The Rite of Spring, Petrushka, The Firebird… Stravinsky’s orchestral classics are well-known. What about his pieces for the chamber music genre? These pieces may not be as well known to musicians and audiences but they are still packed with little gems of invention… Just look at the scores for violin and piano! Czech violinist Vera Novakova and Japanese pianist Maki Belkin join forces to perform three fabulous pieces in which Stravinsky often references the ancient style as though nodding to history: history with a twist from the composer’s mischievous side…
