Nice-Monaco-Menton by Bus: The Smart Coastal Route for Everyday Life and Leisure

Travelling between Nice, Monaco and Menton has become easier, faster and more intuitive thanks to the Bus Line 600, the main coastal route connecting the French Riviera to the Principality. Whether you live in Monaco, commute daily or simply explore the Côte d’Azur, this line offers a practical and scenic alternative to the train — with panoramic sea views included.

Introduced as a merger of the former lines 607 and 608, Line 600 now operates with high frequency, running every 10 to 15 minutes throughout the day. It links key Riviera destinations in one seamless journey, making it one of the most convenient public transport options for Monaco residents and visitors alike.

A Coastal Journey Through Iconic Riviera Towns

The route starts in Nice at Square Normandie Niemen and continues all the way to Menton, passing through some of the most picturesque towns on the Mediterranean coast. Along the way, Bus 600 serves:

Nice – Villefranche-sur-Mer – Beaulieu-sur-Mer – Èze-sur-Mer – Cap-d’Ail – Monaco – Roquebrune-Cap-Martin – Menton

For those who appreciate slow travel and spectacular scenery, this bus ride is more than a commute — it is a moving postcard of the Riviera.

Night Travel: Line 601 After Dark

Evenings and late-night travel are covered by Bus Line 601, previously known as the Noctambus. During the summer season, from 21 June, the night service operates every evening between Nice Port and Menton, with stops in Monaco and surrounding towns.

Outside the summer period, Line 601 runs on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and public holiday eves, making it ideal for late dinners, cultural events or evenings in Monaco without worrying about the last train. Unlike daytime services, passengers may request stops between official stations, adding flexibility to nighttime journeys.

Please note that urban tickets from Lignes d’Azur and Zest’bus are not valid on Line 601.

Fares and Contactless Payment: Designed for Modern Travel

Since 2025, Bus Line 600 features Open Payment technology, allowing passengers to pay and validate their journey in one simple gesture:

  • Tap your contactless bank card or smartphone (Apple Pay / Google Pay) on board
  • Fare automatically charged at €2.10
  • No need to purchase a ticket in advance
  • Children under 4 travel free
  • Cash fare with the driver: €2.50

For groups, a Mini-Group Offer provides 30–50% discounts for 3 to 8 people travelling together. Tickets are available online, at agencies or directly from the driver.

Frequent travellers may also consider the Sud Azur Explore Pass, offering unlimited access to buses, trams and trains across the Alpes-Maritimes and Monaco for 3, 7 or 14 days — a popular option for extended stays.
