Hotel Metropole crowned “Best Hotel in France & Monaco”
The Hotel Monte-Carlo Metropole won “Best Hotel in France / Monaco” and was awarded third place in the category “Best Hotel in Europe” during the 31st edition of the Readers’ Choice Awards for Condé Nast Traveler magazine. The results were announced on the 10th of October, revealing Metropole’s near-perfect score of 99.34.

Did you know that the Youth Summer Olympics is exploding into action this month? And, of course, Summer depends where you are in the world. The third Youth Summer Olympics in 2018 is taking place in Buenos Aires, the first time it has been held outside Asia. Monaco’s 5 athletes are there. They have a great attitude – it’s quality not quantity that counts. They are not at all intimidated by the size of the other countries’ delegations. Argentina is fielding, would you believe it, well over 100 athletes.
Monte-Carlo Piano Masters Results
The Monte-Carlo Piano Masters took place in October and offered an exciting opportunity for artists, who had already made it to the finals in an international competition, to compete against each other. Taking place at the Salle Garnier, in the presence of HSH Princess Caroline of Hanover, the high-level piano competition came with many surprises. Geoffroy Couteau, a 39 year old from France was the favourite. He made it to the semi-finals, along with Alexander Gadjiev, a 24 year old from Gorizia, Italy.

The Monte-Carlo Jazz Festival is preparing to receive a veritable piano star within the Opera de Monte-Carlo. A worthy successor to Emil Gilels and educated in the great schools of Russia, Denis Matsuev is a classical piano virtuoso. Yes, you read that right: classical piano. After winning a first prize at the International Tchaikovsky Competition at 23, the Colossus of Irkutsk won over the world with his athletic performances of Rachmaninoff and Shostakovich. With an imperial, naturally confounding presence, he gave 150 concerts per year in the most prestigious venues, under the direction of the greatest conductors.
Monaco at the 73rd session of the UN General Assembly
This September, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Gilles Tonelli took part in the 73rd session of the UN General Assembly in New York. One Monte-Carlo is a New Community under Construction
The One Monte-Carlo project, located where the old Winter Sporting used to be, will soon be known as a community within a community. For some time already, tourists visiting the Principality have been witnessing what the finished structures will look like in the near future. In total, seven buildings, with eleven floors in the largest building, will make up the new project.
