The 840 students attending Lycée Albert 1er resumed classes remotely on Monday 5 January 2026 before a gradual return to in-person learning at various sites. Most of the students will be using facilities located around the Honoré II promenade, with certain classrooms being used at Collège Charles-III and Lycée Rainier-III.

The students were previously attending classes at the Annonciade school, but, starting on 12 January, the government began prioritizing a gradual return to in-person learning, especially “for exam classes and technical courses,” says a recent press release by the Government of Monaco.

“From now on, students who wish to do so—particularly those in their second year of high school—can use a designated space at Collège Charles-III to connect and participate in remote learning, pending the gradual resumption of in-person classes,” states the Government’s press release.

Work to reinforce the wall of the former Collège Rainier-III continues: “three additional tie rods are fully operational, and the data available to the Government shows that the pressure remains stable well below alert thresholds. Further work will need to be carried out, which is incompatible with the students’ schooling,” says the Government.

Starting on the week of 19-23 January, students will undertake “hybrid learning” combining in-person and remote learning. Priority for in-person classes will be given to subjects in the final year, as well as French and Math in the penultimate year. By the week of 26-30 January, there will be a resumption of in-person classes, with 21 classrooms in Annexes 1 and 2.

In order to free up time slots for high school students at Lycée Rainier-III, university-level classes have been relocated to the ISM classrooms in the “Ruscino” building located on Quai Antoine-1er. These premises are also housing other school-related services, including guidance counselling, psychologists, social workers, a library, a parent reception area, and more.

Sports and community facilities housed in the former technical building have been accessible again since Wednesday 7 January, as has access to the Annonciade public parking lot.
