Prince Albert II joined the leaders of nine small European states in Andorra la Vella, on the sidelines of the 2025 European Parliament (JPEE), to strengthen cooperation between small states and address global challenges, on Monday, May 26, 2025.

Prince Albert II inaugurates the Eddie Jordan Foundation

Prince Albert II officially inaugurated the Eddie Jordan Foundation, which aims to support young people reach their full potential, at the Yacht Club of Monaco on May 22, 2025. The charity is named after the Formula 1 driver turned motorsport executive who passed away on March 20, 2025, at the age of 76. Members of his family, including his children Kyle and Zoe Jordan, as well as longtime friends, attended the ceremony.

Prince Albert II spoke about the close connection between Eddie Jordan and the Principality, where he resided. He praised the initiative led by his family and the unifying nature of the man who left a lasting mark on the world of motorsport. A tribute film was screened at the end of the event to retrace the highlights of Jordan’s career.

The Eddie Jordan Foundation is a philanthropic organization which aims to support young talent in four sectors dear to the driver and entrepreneur: sports, music, sailing and business through a range of concrete programs: scholarships, mentoring, personalized support, an alumni network and immersive opportunities. The foundation operates out of Monaco, London, Dublin and Cape Town.

At the invitation of Andorran Prime Minister Xavier Espot Zamora, the leaders of Andorra, Monaco, Cyprus, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malta, Montenegro and San Marino met to reaffirm the nations’ shared commitment to peace and human rights. Prince Albert II welcomed the initiative, as it illustrates the ability for small states to organize themselves in the face of major contemporary challenges. Participants highlighted the particular resilience of their territories in the face of economic crises, geopolitical tensions, climate challenges and technological change.

Prince Albert II cheers on Monaco’s Athletes during record-breaking Games of the Small States of Europe

In the presence of Prince Albert II, Monaco had a record-breaking Games of the Small States of Europe in Andorra from May 26 until June 1, 2025. Present from the opening ceremony until Tuesday morning, the Sovereign attended the shooting, tennis, gymnastics and beach volleyball events, before greeting swimmers at the end of their qualifying heats. In total, 1600 athletes and coaches from 9 states participated.

In total, Monaco won a record-breaking 44 medals: 16 gold medals, 13 silver medals and 15 bronze medals. The closing event featured the extinguishing of the Olympic cauldron and the handover of the Olympic flag to Monaco, the next host nation in 2027.

Emmanuel Macron’s State Visit to Monaco: Official Program Revealed

French President Emmanuel Macron will be visiting the Principality on June 7 and 8, 2025. It will be the first official state visit by a French President since François Mitterrand in 1984.

Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene will welcome Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte Macron before a private audience between the two heads of state at the Prince’s Palace, followed by a state dinner in the Throne Room.

The next day, Sunday morning, the French President and Prince Albert II will visit the Larvotto site of the SeaWergie company, which specializes in thalassotherapy. This technology uses seawater to produce energy, illustrating Monaco’s commitment to renewable energy.

At the same time, Brigitte Macron and Princess Charlene will attend a Water Safety event, organized by the Princess Charlene Foundation.

The two leaders will then attend the closing ceremony of the Blue Economy and Finance Forum (BEFF), which will take place on June 7 and 8 in Monaco. An official luncheon during the closing ceremony will bring together several heads of state and government, as well as representatives of royal families. Brazilian President Lula da Silva will be among the guests at this international meeting.

Following the forum’s closing, Emmanuel Macron and Prince Albert II will travel to Nice for the launch of the third United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC 3). This major event will take place from June 9 to 13 and will address marine environmental challenges on a global scale.

Emmanuel Macron visited Monaco in January 2025 for the funeral of Minister of State Didier Guillaume.
