Conference: “Monaco and the Francophonie in the Land of Penguins: French Southern and Antarctic Lands”

March 24 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
Free
Bruno Fuligni

As every year, Mrs. Michelle MAUDUIT PALLANCA, President of the National Order of Merit (ONM Representation of Monaco) and the President of the Union of Francophone Press (UPF Monaco), Mr. Patrice ZEHR, are pleased to inform you of the organization of a conference on the theme of Francophonie, placed under the Patronage of His Excellency the Ambassador of France to Monaco.

“This is France, and nothing is like France: in the Southern Hemisphere, several days’ sail from any urban life, adventurers camp in these hostile and fascinating waters.”

“Bruno Fuligni visited these distant lands, the French Southern and Antarctic Lands (TAAF): the Crozet, Kerguelen, Amsterdam, and Saint-Paul Islands, and their tropical cousins, the Scattered Islands: Europa, Bassas da India, Juan de Nova, the Glorioso Islands, and Tromelin. Magical places whose archives Bruno Fuligni was the first to open,” and also to discover “The Prince of Monaco Islands,” in the Kerguelen archipelago. They were named in honor of Albert I. Following on from this, Bruno Fuligni will undoubtedly attest to Albert II’s interest in the Southern Lands.

Writer, historian, and lecturer at Sciences Po, Bruno Fuligni is the author of some forty books, including his latest, “Voyage en France australe” (Journey to Southern France), published in 2025 by Allary Éditions, for which he received the Pythéas Prize at the Monaco International Book Fair in September 2025.

On March 24th, he will invite us to “embark with him on a journey through time and across the ocean, to the French Southern and Antarctic Lands (TAAF).”
