Princely Family launch 6th Grimaldi Historic Sites Meeting on the Palace Square

Prince Albert II, Princess Charlene and their children, Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella, inaugurated the the 6th Grimaldi Historic Sites Meeting on June 14 on the Place du Palais.

Organized by the Grimaldi Historic Sites Federation, the event brought together eight French and Italian municipalities, united by their shared history with the Monegasque dynasty: Polignac, Lavoûte-sur-Loire, Saint-Pal-de-Chalencon (Haute-Loire), Ollioules (Var), Uzès (Gard), Villeneuve-Loubet (Alpes-Maritimes), Bardi and Compiano. Representatives from each municipality were presented with an plaque onstage by the Sovereign.

During the weekend event, stalls featured products from local artisans beside tourism stands from various Grimaldi Historic Sites. The event also featured a preview of the upcoming comic book “Monaco, l’épopée des Grimaldi” (Monaco, the Grimaldi Epic) published by Glénat, which will be available in bookstores on June 25.

Prince Albert II opens 64th Monte-Carlo Television Festival

Prince Albert II officially opened the 64th Monte-Carlo Television Festival at the Grimaldi Forum on June 13. Louis Ducruet, Marie Chevallier, Camille Gottlieb and Jazmin Grace Grimaldi attended the festivals opening ceremony. Prince Charles and Princess Camilla of Bourbon-Two Sicilies were also in attendance.

The Sovereign presented Jaz Sinclair, star of superhero series Gen V, with the ‘Most Promising Talent Award’. The 2025 Golden Nymph Awards ceremony will take place on June 17, with Princess Charlene in attendance, in the Grimaldi Forum’s Salle des Princes.

Princess Charlene and Brigitte Macron visit Saint-Paul-de-Vence

Princess Charlene was invited by Brigitte Macron to Saint-Paul-de-Vence, 40 minutes away from Monaco, on June 9. Welcomed at the entrance of the village by the First Lady, Princess Charlene had a tour of the historic old town. The pair had lunch at La Colombe dOr, a restaurant with works by Chagall and Miró adorning the walls. The day continued with a visit to the Maeght Foundation, a modern art museum and France’s first independent art foundation.

Prince Albert II celebrates 20th Anniversary of Monaco’s Gerontological Coordination Centre

Prince Albert II visited the Monaco Gerontological Coordination Centre (CCGM) to celebrate its 20th year of serving the Principality’s seniors, on June 12. Accompanied by Minister of Social Affairs and Health, Christophe Robino, the Sovereign toured the Centre’s premises before attending speeches by Philippe Migliasso, senior health executive at the CCGM and Dr. Pascale Porasso-Gelormini, geriatrician.

Prince Albert II presented the Centre with a collaborative work of art, which he contributed to. Created by the Monegasque artist Mr. One Teas, the artwork features a spray-painted word:  respect.

The CCGM provides personalized medical, psychosocial, and social support to people over 60. Working closely with families, healthcare professionals and social workers, the centre supports individualized at-home care.

Prince Albert II Foundation launches Pelagos Sanctuary Consortium

The Prince Albert II Foundation has spearheaded the new Pelagos Initiative Consortium to strengthen the conservation of cetaceans and their habitat. At the 3rd United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC3) in Nice, the Pelagos Consortium was officially launched on June 12. The ambitious project brings together thirteen partners from the scientific world, NGOs, local authorities and the private sector, under the coordination of Italian NGO Tethys Research Institute. The Pelagos Sanctuary covers 87,500 km² between three countries and is the only transboundary marine area in the Mediterranean entirely dedicated to the protection of cetaceans.

Prince Albert II to present director Jon M. Chu with Princess Grace Foundation Award

The Sovereign is set to travel to New York City in October to present the Prince Rainier III award on behalf of the Princess Grace Foundation to Jon M. Chu, who directed “Crazy Rich Asians” and “Wicked.” The ceremony will take place on October 29 at the Plaza in New York. The award comes with a grant of $25,000 to the philanthropic organization of the winner’s choice.

In 2001, the Princess Grace Foundation USA awarded a grant to Jon M. Chu, while he was still a student, to help finance his first short film. At 45, the Californian director is a graduate of the USC School of Cinematic Arts. Last year, Michael Douglas was awarded with the Prince Rainier III Award.

Prince Albert II is awarded Centennial Medal by John Kerry

The Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution awarded Prince Albert II with its Centennial Medal, presented by former U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry on June 11, in Nice. The medal represents the Sovereigns commitment to environmental preservation.

Prince Albert II thanked John Kerry and Peter de Menocal, President of the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, for the distinction. The American non-profit is the first organization in the world dedicated to research, exploration and education in the field of oceans.

In 2018, Prince Albert II visited the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution in Massachusetts, USA.

UN Ocean Conference in Nice: Prince Albert II and Monaco make €1.5 million commitment to the Mediterranean

During the United Nations Conference in Nice, Prince Albert II reiterated Monaco’s support for the MedFund financial fund (for the development of marine protected areas in the Mediterranean) with a €1.5 million euro commitment, on June 9.

The Monegasque government renewed its support for MedFund by signing a new partnership agreement for the next five years. The support, combined with that of the Prince Albert II Foundation, represents a total of €1.5 million. Monaco also chairs the association’s board of directors, represented by Isabelle Berro-Amadeï as government advisor and minister of foreign affairs, alongside Barbara Pompili, French ambassador for the environment, and Habib Abid, Tunisia’s environment minister.

During MedFund’s first decade, the association has aided in the protection of 9,500 km² in the Mediterranean, representing twenty areas supported by ten countries. These areas have been preserved thanks to €6.3 million committed by around fifteen donors, including Monaco. For the next five years, The MedFund program intends to continue its support for marine protected areas by expanding its efforts to twenty other zones.
