AS Monaco Basket has added a high-profile name to its already star-studded roster: Serbian guard Nemanja Nedovic. At 34 years old, Nedovic brings not only his trademark shooting touch but also a wealth of international experience that could prove decisive in the club’s push for European glory.
Fresh from three seasons with Crvena Zvezda in Belgrade, Nedovic arrives in the Principality with a clear purpose. His résumé speaks volumes: over a decade competing at the EuroLeague level, eye-catching scoring nights such as his 39-point outburst against Maccabi in 2020, and a silver medal with the Serbian national team at the Rio Olympics, where he led his side in scoring during the final against Team USA. He even had a taste of the NBA early in his career after being selected in the first round of the 2013 draft.
For Nedovic, the decision to join Monaco was straightforward. “Since this option appeared, I only wanted Monaco,” he explained. “I listened to other teams, but this felt like the best opportunity at this stage of my career. I want to win, and with Monaco’s roster and a coach like Vassilis Spanoulis, I believe I have the best chance to do that.”
The respect is mutual. Spanoulis, himself a EuroLeague legend, personally reached out to Nedovic, outlining the role he envisioned for his new signing. That conversation, Nedovic admits, left a strong impression. “When a coach shows that much desire to have you, it means a lot. He has an incredible passion for success, and I can’t wait to work with him.”
Nedovic also pointed to Monaco’s rapid rise as part of what drew him in. In little more than a decade, the club has gone from France’s third division to competing in multiple EuroLeague Final Fours in recent years. “It’s unique in modern basketball,” Nedovic said. “The progress they’ve made shows the commitment of everyone behind the scenes. It’s exciting to now be part of this story.”
Win, Win, Win
Looking ahead, the veteran guard is setting no limits. “At this point in my career, winning is my only goal. Every competition we enter, I want us to compete to the very end. The EuroLeague is tough, but with the quality we have, I believe we can do something special this season.”
Monaco’s backcourt is now deeper than ever, with Nedovic joining the likes of Jordan Loyd, Nick Calathes, and Elie Okobo. The arrival of another proven scorer adds firepower to a team already chasing the ultimate prize in Europe. And while questions still linger about the future of star guard Mike James, Nedovic’s presence ensures the Roca Team will not lack for offensive punch.
With ambition, experience, and a history of delivering in big moments, Nemanja Nedovic arrives in Monaco not just to shoot, but to win.
