Ilies Belmokhtar and Nick Mokabakila sign their first professional contracts

AS Monaco announced the signing of the first professional contracts of Ilies Belmokhtar (17 years old) and Nick Mokabakila (18 years old), two players trained at the Academy.

Ilies Belmokhtar

Born in Ivry-sur-Seine (Val-de-Marne) on May 12, 2008, Ilies Belmokhtar joined the AS Monaco Academy in 2023, after training in the Paris region, at ES Vitry, AS Orly and then at CREPS in Reims.

An attacking midfielder, Ilies Belmokhtar first played this season with the U17s under Manu Dos Santos, where he played the majority of matches, before joining the U19 squad during the second half of the season.

He notably distinguished himself by scoring around fifteen goals, including several braces against Olympique Lyonnais, AS Saint-Étienne, and Stade Rennais.

With the Moroccan U17 national team, Ilies Belmokhtar distinguished himself last March at the U17 AFCON held in Morocco. After putting in solid performances throughout the tournament, he scored the decisive penalty in the final against Mali, giving his country its first-ever title in this competition. These performances earned him a place in the tournament’s team of the year.

Nick Mokabakila

Born in Brazzaville, Democratic Republic of Congo, Nick Mokabakila celebrated his 18th birthday on May 17. He joined AS Monaco in 2022 from Fleury Aubrais CJF, a club in Loiret.

An attacking left-back, he played almost every U19 match this season under the direction of Frédéric Barilaro.

He also made his debut in the Youth League, where he played in the majority of matches. He notably distinguished himself against some of Europe’s most renowned youth academies, such as FC Barcelona (4-3 victory) and Benfica Lisbon (1-0 victory).

Nick Mokabakila has already played several matches with the French U16 team, notably against Germany, Japan and Denmark.

AS Monaco wished Ilies and Nick every success in La Diagonale!
