Mondo Takes Aim at the Monégasque Sky

Swedish pole vaulting sensation Armand “Mondo” Duplantis is back, and he’s hunting altitude.

Two years after a performance in Monaco he’d probably file under “meh,” Duplantis is returning with a vengeance—and with his sights on Piotr Lisek’s meeting record of 6.02m from 2019. Not exactly Everest for a man who vaulted 6.26m in Chorzów last summer.

“Monaco is one of those places where you can dream big,” Duplantis said via DiamondLeague. “The Herculis EBS meeting is an iconic event with a real passion for athletics. The energy at the Stade Louis-II is special, and I’m excited to compete. I hope to deliver a memorable moment for the audience.”

In 2024 alone, Mondo broke his own world record three times. It’s not vaulting anymore—it’s levitation with style. And Monaco? It might be next on his highlight reel.

Femke Bol: Grace, Grit, and One Missing Jewel

Also blazing into Monaco is Femke Bol, the Dutch phenom whose resume is so stacked it’s practically a training hurdle. With world and European titles, four Olympic medals, and a Diamond League winning streak that’s beginning to look like a monopoly (25 wins and counting since 2021), she’s as close to automatic as it gets.
But here’s the twist—Monaco remains unconquered.
“I can’t wait to race in Monaco; it’s always an incredible meeting,” Bol told DiamondLeague. “I’ve trained well this year. Monaco is one of the meetings I haven’t won yet; I’d like to do it this year. I hope to have a great race and fully enjoy the atmosphere.”

Back in 2020, she was a rising name finishing third in the flat 400m here. Fast-forward five years, and she’s the queen of the 400m hurdles. Now she returns not as a hopeful, but as a headliner.

The Magic of Monaco

It’s not just another stop on the circuit—it’s Monaco. Voted the world’s best athletics meeting seven times, the Herculis EBS is where speed meets spectacle under a Riviera sky. Past editions have delivered world records, season bests, and drama with a French twist.

This year, the stars are aligning. One clears bars higher than most buildings, the other glides over hurdles like they’re rumours. And both are chasing something: a record, a victory, a moment.

Tickets start at €15 and with a special 50% offer in select stands, fans might just witness history at a discount.

So mark the date. July 11. Stade Louis-II.
