Lecture “Louis Blériot, Man of the Channel”

Lecture on the topic “Louis Blériot, Man of the Channel”, by his grand-daughter, Nicole Sabbagh on Tuesday 29 January 2019, at 6 pm Médiathèque de Monaco – Bibliothèque Louis Notari.

On July 25, 1909, Louis Blériot took off from Sangatte for the first crossing of the Channel aboard an airplane equipped with “hand-sewn” canvas wings. Before accomplishing this feat, Blériot, stubborn and visionary pioneer, father of six children, suffered many failures. A life, exciting and passionate, an adventure that we can hardly imagine today, evoked by his granddaughter during a conference-projection. Louis Blériot lived in Monaco in his field “Le Nid”, which became Roqueville. Family memories to relive the beginnings of aviation…
