This weekend you’ll have to make a really hard choice due to the 24-hour time limitations and a plethora of cultural and athletic events.

European Heritage Days

European Heritage Days will be held between 14th and 15th September, ‘The Heritage of Routes, Networks and Connections’. 

More than 40 different sites in the Principality, including the Palais Princier de Monaco, will open their doors to the public for the 2024 edition of the European Heritage Days. The Grand Apartments in the Palais Princier de Monaco will host free tours of the state rooms, the Salle d’Europe, the Throne Room and the Galerie d’Hercule on each day between 10am and 6pm.  

Petanque: International Teams Swarm to Compete in the 1st Princess Gabriella Challenge

The 6th edition of Monaco Hereditary Prince Jacques Petanque Challenge, will take place on September 14 and 15 at the Rainier-III bowling alley. A field of completely crazy density.

16 pairs will qualify for the 8th finals. As for the other 16, they will take part in another competition in parallel. A sign that the Principality has pulled out all the stops, with significant prizes at stake, including prize money of up to 35,000 euros. Which adds an extra dimension to this event.

Get out your rollerblades, scooters and skates! On 14 September, the Monaco Trott’N’Roll for the benefit of the Flavien Foundation will be returning to the Principality’s Jardins d’Apolline and allée Lazare Sauvaigo from 9 am to 10 pm.

And at 8 p.m.: Exceptional concert on the occasion of the 10th anniversary with a tribute to Jean-Jacques Goldman.

In the country style and festive atmosphere, the Bal du Marché ( The Market Ball) will be held this year on Saturday, September 14, 2024 from 7 p.m. on the Place d’Armes.

Just like last year, large tables will be made available to the public (by reservation with the merchants of the Halle) in order to eat at the usual booths of the merchants of the Marché de la Condamine.

In addition, a claw machine will be available to win stuffed animals and two new features will be present this year: cotton candy and popcorn stands!

The musical atmosphere will be provided by the group “Benty Brothers Music” from 7:30 p.m. The back-to-school event not to be missed (especially)!

The final dinners of this year’s Festival des Etoilés will be concocted on Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 September 2024 at the Pavyllon Yannick Alléno at the Hôtel Hermitage Monte-Carlo, where Chef Yannick Alléno will be hosting his two Michelin-starred counterpart from Saison in San Francisco, Richard Lee, as the Chefs combine their talents to create incredible gourmet fare!

“Les visiteurs du soir” ("Evening visitors")

Friday 13 and Saturday 14 September, the festival “Les visiteurs du soir” (“Evening visitors”) organised by the contemporary art network Botox(s) returns for a new edition. This event also opens to the neighbouring communities of Beausoleil and Menton as well as its Italian twin city, Dolceaqua. Exhibitions, performances and meetings are on the programme.

In 2022, the “Les visiteurs du soir” have become a real contemporary art festival with 4 highlights over the year.

During this festival, audiences are offered the chance to experience new things: tours, night tours, openings, unusual exhibition visits, performances, readings, round tables, screenings, etc.

Exhibition: "Miquel Barceló, Oceanographer"

Interesting exhibitions are open now in Monaco, you can begin with the exhibition: “Miquel Barceló, Oceanographer” which started on Friday 7 June and will run till Sunday 13 October 2024 in Nouveau Musée National de Monaco – Villa Paloma.

Featuring a selection of around sixty works (paintings, ceramics, embroidery, works on paper), this exhibition is a chance to discover the prolific and eclectic creations of Miquel Barceló, a Spanish artist whose favourite subject was the sea.

Polar bears and emperor penguins are the protagonists of the exhibition “The Ice Giants” by Michel Bassompierre organized from Wednesday April 10 to Sunday October 6, 2024 in Oceanographic Museum of Monaco. Seven monumental works will take over the Oceanographic Museum and its roof terrace. On this occasion, the sculptor will unveil five new creations: four polar bears as well as a 3-meter-high emperor penguin. Original drawings and sketches will also be exhibited accompanied by the screening of a film presenting the artist’s work. This temporary exhibition is part of the Polar Mission program run by the Oceanographic Institute since 2022.

Among many interesting exhibitions that are held in Monaco these days you can take a look at the exhibition at the Nouveau Musée National de Monaco – Villa Sauber (from March 29 till September 29), which looks at the influence of classical and contemporary painting on the films of Pier Paolo Pasolini. “Pasolini in Chiaroscuro” brings together a variety of work, including film clips, paintings, drawings, installations and photography from the 16th century till today. It finishes with works by other artists who paid tribute to Pasolini.
