Monaco’s triathlon team won the men’s Ventouxman Club Championships, which took place in Vaucluse from Friday, September 12 to Sunday, September 14, 2025. The French D3 Club Championship was a tight race, with fifteen athletes finishing within one minute of each other!
Sam Hart, from Brive Triathlon Limousin, won first place, with a time of 54:07 during the swimming, biking and running competition. But with 3rd, 5th, and 11th place finishes, the AS Monaco Triathlon club won the French Championship title.
Elisa Marcon won the final of the French Triathlon Championship Women D3 with 1:02:45. Her club, ASVEL Triathlon, from Villeurbanne, also finished 5th and 7th and won the French Championship title.
The historic victory allows the Monegasque team to move up to Division 2, which was the team’s main goal. The ASM Club hoped to enter Division 2 last year, but an unforeseen event occurred on the eve of the final, which held the team back. The team prepared intensively for this year’s championship, with a regular training schedule, cycling meet-ups on weekends plus training camps. The team is trained by coach Denis Watrin.
The Triathlon section of the ASM was created in the Principality in 1986. It is governed by the statutes of AS Monaco Générale (which has sixteen sections in 22 different sports and approximately 2,700 members overall).
In 2009, the Triathlon Federation was created to allow Monaco’s participation in international competitions like the Olympic Games (with the participation of Hervé Banti in London in 2012), short and long distance world championships, Ironman and more.
The section is also recognized by the French Triathlon Federation thanks to special agreements, which allow ASM athletes to participate in competitions on French territory. By 2016, the ASM Triathlon Team grew to 145 members, including around thirty women.
