The Cellars of the Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo received the prestigious “Best of Award of Excellence” from Wine Spectator. This distinction, awarded on 23 June 2026 by the American magazine, distinguishes establishments that serve wines of a certain quality and depth.
Wine Spectator particularly recognised the Burgundy, Champagne, and Bordeaux wines in the Hôtel de Paris cellar. The publication, founded in 1976, is one of the best known and most influential in the wine industry, and it has now shone a spotlight on the largest hotel wine cellar in the world: the one right under the Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo.
Other awards from Wine Spectator
This isn’t the first award that the SBM has won from Wine Spectator. Le Grill restaurant received the same award in 2025 for its wine selection. The Louis XV-Alain Ducasse was presented with the Grand Award, the magazine’s highest distinction, as early as 1995, the only SBM restaurant to have received this prestigious title.
“This distinction confirms the excellence of the wine offerings provided by Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer following in the footsteps of the Grand Award received by Louis XV-Alain Ducasse since 1995,” said the SBM in a recent press release.

Treasure buried underground
With their 300,000 bottles and more than 11,000 different wines displayed across 1,500 square metres, the cellars of the Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo has been one of Monaco’s heritage and gastronomic treasures for over 150 years. Carved into the rock 12 metres below ground, at the instigation of Marie Blanc in 1874, and renovated in 2025, these cellars supply the SBM’s thirty or so restaurants and bars.
New Wine Cellar Club
The Wine Cellar Club of the Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo, established last year, now brings together discerning wine enthusiasts for exclusive wine evenings, inviting its members to discover rare wines and prestigious vintages. Aside from the club’s gatherings, the wine cellar also hosts tours and dinners.
