Monaco Extinguishes Open Flames in Nightlife and Hospitality Venues
The Principality has formally tightened its fire-safety rules to prohibit naked flames in public areas of restaurants, bars, dance venues and gaming establishments, turning what had already become good practice among some of Monaco’s biggest hospitality operators into a rule applying across the sector.
Free Scuba Diving Class by Monaco’s Underwater Exploration Club!
For anyone who is curious about learning how to scuba dive, an introduction class will be taking place on 12 August at the Rainier III Nautical Stadium. The activity is open to the public aged 8 and over.
Organized by the Monaco City Hall, the event will be supervised by professionals from the Club d’Exploration Sous-Marine Monaco (Monaco Underwater Exploration Club) or CESMM.
Partial Solar Eclipse will be Visible in Monaco
A solar eclipse will be visible in the Principality on 12 August. The eclipse’s start time will be 7:20 p.m. with maximum eclipse (95% coverage) happening at 8:25 pm. The eclipse will end in Monaco at 9:10 pm.
Monaco Steps Up Night-Time Road Checks for the August Rush
August nights in Monaco may be relaxed, but the Principality’s police are taking a less relaxed approach to motorists who have been drinking or taking drugs.
For two weeks at the height of the summer season, officers have been given additional powers to carry out preventive roadside checks anywhere across Monaco, as the government seeks to reduce the risks associated with the annual influx of visitors and a particularly active nightlife.
The operation runs from 3 to 16 August 2026, with checks authorised between 10pm and 4am.
