Isabelle Bonnal Passes the Torch: Jean-Philippe VINCI Steps Up as New Education Director

After a distinguished 13-year tenure, Mrs. Isabelle Bonnal will hand over the leadership of the Directorate of National Education, Youth, and Sports to Mr. Jean-Philippe VINCI, who will officially assume the role on July 1, 2024. Isabelle Bonnal, who took over from Claude Péri in 2011, has been a significant figure in Monaco’s educational landscape. An agrégée professor at the François d’Assise-Nicolas Barré high school, a Union for Monaco (UPM) candidate in the 2008 national elections, and a former president of the Zonta Club of Monaco, she has dedicated her career to advancing education and youth programs.

A sovereign ordinance published in the Official Journal of Monaco noted that Mrs. Bonnal was granted the right to retire effective February 12, 2024. However, to ensure a seamless transition and manage the completion of the school year the transition is taking place at the end of this month. In recognition of her service, it is reported that she has been granted honorary status for her longevity in the role and the high quality of her work. The government expressed its deep appreciation for her unwavering dedication and the strategic initiatives she implemented during her tenure.

Mr. Jean-Philippe VINCI, an agrégé in philosophy and holder of a Master’s degree from Sciences Po Paris, brings a wealth of experience to his new role. Having taught at Lycée Albert I since 1996, Mr. VINCI also served as a Chargé de Mission at the Directorate of National Education, Youth, and Sports for three years. His international experience includes assignments with UNESCO and the Council of Europe, further enhancing his qualifications for this position. Additionally, he is a member of the Board of Directors of the Prince Pierre Foundation and the Management Committee of the Princess Grace Theatre.

As Mr. VINCI prepares to take the helm, the princely government extends its warmest wishes for his success in leading the Directorate of National Education, Youth, and Sports, building on the strong foundation laid by Isabelle Bonnal.
