A Centenary Moment: The Bugatti Royale

Beyond the racing, one of the defining moments of the weekend came on April 25, when H.S.H. Prince Albert II took part in a lap of the circuit aboard the legendary Bugatti Type 41 “Royale”, celebrating its centenary (1926–2026).
The Sovereign was joined by Christophe Piochon, President of Bugatti Automobiles, and Michel Ferry, Vice President of the Automobile Club de Monaco, with the car driven by the head of the workshop at the Musée National de l’Automobile – Collection Schlumpf.
Designed by Ettore Bugatti as the most prestigious and powerful car of its time, the Royale, with its extraordinary 13-litre engine, remains one of the most iconic automobiles ever created. Among the six examples built, the famed “Coupé Napoléon” is widely regarded as the centrepiece of the Schlumpf Collection.
Following its appearance on track, the Bugatti Royale will be exhibited to the public at the Prince’s Car Collection from April 27 to May 3, before being showcased at Top Marques Monaco (May 7–10).

Monaco’s Living Motorsport Heritage

The 2026 edition once again confirmed the Historic Grand Prix as one of the most distinctive events in global motorsport. Far from a static celebration, it remains a competitive and immersive experience, where historic cars are not displayed, but driven as they were intended.
In Monaco, history does not stand still. It races.
