Monte Carlo Rally 2024: How much did Thierry Neuville’s winning Helmet fetch at Auction?

Not long after Thierry Neuville and Martijn Wydaeghe won the 92nd Monte Carlo Rally on 28 January 2024, the winning helmet went under the hammer during an auction by Bonhams Cars. Thierry Neuville’s WRC Monte Carlo Rally helmet was designed by Frédéric Platéus.

Sold for over €25,000

Right after Thierry Neuville won the Rally, the driver signed his winning helmet. The Bell helmet, model ‘HP10 Rally’ size 59, was manufactured November 2023. It is an open faced design with a microphone arm, with a peak and short tinted visor.

Decorated predominantly in blue, white and orange the helmet features logos by Hyundai, Red Bull, Uhoda, LKQ, Heli and Co, and Art Helmet logos. The inside has red padded lining and a chinstrap, while the outside is fitted with HANS safety points, dated 2024.

Two helmets of the same design had been produced by Frédéric Platéus for Thierry Neuville to wear during the 2024 Monte Carlo WRC rally. (It’s common practice for all drivers and teams to carry a spare helmet to all events in case radio issues force the driver to change helmets, for example.) The auction of the unique single lot took place online and fetched just over €25,500 (£21,760).

Thierry Neuville is a Belgian rally driver who is competing in the World Rally Championship for Hyundai Motorsport. He started his WRC career in 2009 and has finished as a runner-up in the driver’s championship five times (2013, 2016–2019). He helped Hyundai win their first manufacturer’s title in 2019 before winning again in 2020. Thierry Neuville’s World Rally Championship career has seen 19 victories, including the 2020 Monte Carlo Rally, as well 346 stage wins and 60 podiums finishes.
