Nearly 3 months after storm Alex, H.S. Prince Albert II travelled to Breil-Sur-Roya on Monday, December 28, 2020, to show his support and solidarity with the people from the valleys devastated by the disaster.
The Sovereign Prince – also accompanied by the Monaco Red Cross – met with storm victims, volunteers, associations and relief bodies working to secure the supply for the most isolated populations.
Previously, after the storm had passed, the Principality of Monaco had quickly mobilized to help the victims. Institutions, associations, trades and individuals participated in this momentum of solidarity. And on October 9th, Prince Albert had already visited Roquebillière and Saint-Martin-Vésubie to show his support for the victims of the Roya, Tinée and Vésubie valleys.
The Sovereign Prince visited the warehouse for the storage of basic necessities and foodstuffs intended to be transported to the valley. Then he was presented with vehicles offered by the Cuomo Foundation, the Automobile Club of Monaco, the Order of Malta and the Town Hall of Monaco. Prince Albert II handed over to the Mayor of Breil-sur-Roya, Mr. Sébastien Olharan, the keys to new worksite bungalows, offered by the Loxam company in partnership with the Monegasque Red Cross, that will serve as the town’s temporary technical services.
