The 57th Monte-Carlo Television Festival
The new program for the festival, which runs from the 16th to 20th of June, has been revealed recently with a focus on exchanges between the actors and the public.
While presenting the 57th program to press and sponsors, he said: “the festival has evolved and will continue to evolve because there is nothing more noble than change.” For Laurent Puons, vice-president of the Monte-Carlo TV Festival, this year’s edition (16 – 20 June) will be in line with previous ones, with events attracting the general public and some exclusive events for Monaco featuring small screen professionals.
2 world premieres
“Our festival has become a platform for communication and promotion for studios that present new content,” said Laurent Puons. The opening ceremony on the 16th of June and the world premiere of the thriller series Absentia, produced by Sony, starring one of the heroines of Castle, Stana Katic, is included in the program.
Another preview will be The Last Tycoon, a series adapted from a novel by Francis Scott Fitzgerald with the ex-hero from FBI: a special duo, Matt Bomer, who is always popular on the red carpet.
Several events are planned for the general public this year, including a novel event called “behind the scenes”, a conference between television production teams and the public, with a Q&A to help shed light on behind-the-scenes production.
A nymph for Helen Mirren
Celebrations will include the twentieth anniversary of the Inspector Barnaby series and a crystal nymph honoring the rich career of British actress Helen Mirren (performing an impeccable Queen Elizabeth II in Stephen Frears’ The Queen, 2006). The 57th edition, with 200 accredited journalists, will also count on rapper 50 Cent, from the series Power and an icon of the small screen, known for her unforgettable red bathing suit, Pamela Anderson. The name of the president of the fiction jury, which will award the famous Nymphs, has not yet been revealed. The news jury will be chaired by journalist Etienne Leenhardt.
Chicago Justice, Kabul Kitchen, Empire or Plus Belle la vie…
The highlight of the festival will be the opening ceremony, Friday the 16th of June at 7 pm at the Grimaldi Forum, followed by an after party at the Monte Carlo Casino. Saturday the 17th of June will be a special day for children, including a presentation of My Little Pony, with entertainment and snacks for children. Most events are open to the public, but fans can, at the end of May, buy VIP passes which will help them meet the artists.
Huguette, Raymond and…MacGyver
Autograph hunters will be able to find actors from the series Chicago Justice, Scènes de Ménage, Candice Renoir, Kabul Kitchen, En Famille and Plus Belle la Vie which is currently celebrating its tenth anniversary.
