The criminal investigation into the attempted assassination, the placement of an explosive device in a public place with criminal intent, and participation in a criminal association, committed in the Principality of Monaco on 29 June 2026, has entered a new procedural stage.
According to the judicial authorities, the latest developments in the investigation required a change in the procedural framework of the case. This decision was made after investigators obtained new evidence that significantly advanced the establishment of the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Special recognition was given to the work of the Criminal Investigation Division of Monaco’s Department of Public Security. Thanks to the prompt actions of its officers, as well as effective international cooperation between law enforcement and judicial authorities from different countries, the identity of the person suspected of committing the crimes was established in an exceptionally short period of time.
As a result, a judicial investigation has been formally opened on several serious charges, including attempted assassination and complicity, the placement of an explosive device in a public place with criminal intent and complicity, as well as participation in a criminal association.
Given the seriousness of the alleged offences and their criminal nature, the investigation has been entrusted to a panel of three investigating judges, who possess broader powers than the Prosecutor General.
As part of this new stage of the investigation, an arrest warrant has already been issued for the suspect. In addition, yesterday evening an Interpol Red Notice was published against him, allowing him to be placed on the international wanted list.
