The Hôtel Hermitage Monte-Carlo, one of the architectural jewels of the Principality, recently unveiled its new Diamond Suites and a new bar, named Gustave.
With its Belle Époque façade, two Michelin-starred restaurants, and Eiffel-style dome, the Hôtel Hermitage has been open for almost a century. In 2024, the Société des Bains de Mer (SBM) embarked on a vast renovation program for the hotel, divided into several phases.
Diamond Suites
Twenty-two years after their initial creation by the Pierre-Yves Rochon architectural firm, the Diamond Suites have been expanded to include forty new rooms and suites, including seven designer apartments.
The collaborative project was orchestrated by Luc Leroy, Director of Construction and Built Heritage at SBM, and Stéphanie Rainaut, Head of Department at the Design and Engineering Office. They brought in Pierre-Yves Rochon and Karine Bouaziz, Artistic Director, who had worked on the original design in 2004.
“Together, they have breathed new life into the original spirit of these seven luxurious suites, conceived as apartments, both in terms of size and high-end amenities. Bathed in southern light and overlooking the Mediterranean, these prestigious new suites offer guests a contemporary interpretation of the Belle Époque art of living,” says the SBM.
The new rooms and suites feature Versailles parquet flooring, bathrooms adorned with Calacatta marble and marquetry, Auberley & Laurent moldings, fine carpets and fabrics, and botanical inspirations. The colour palette is composed of soft tones like seafoam green, blue, and beige.
Gustave
Located in the Winter Garden, beneath the iconic Eiffel Dome, the hotel’s new Gustave bar recently opened its doors to “lovers of cocktails, champagnes, and fine cuisine in a truly elegant Belle Époque-style salon”.
Designed by interior architect Shirine Zirak, Gustave unfolds across five spaces, including a brand-new terrace. With its checkerboard stone floor, wrought-iron furniture, and green plants, the terrace echoes the spirit of an 18th-century Winter Garden.
Open from noon all the way until 1 a.m., the bar has lunch, dinner, and signature cocktail menus. Inspired by Art Nouveau and the grand Parisian cafés, the cocktail menu is crafted by Head Bartender Julien Lecharpentier.
Tour the Princely and Presidential Suites
Spanning 283 square metres, the Diamond Suite Princière features three 15-square-metre terraces offering views of Monaco’s port and the Prince’s Palace. The living room features a large sofa, signature armchairs, a library corner, and a workspace. The dining room can accommodate up to eight guests. The master bedroom opens onto an ensuite bathroom clad in white onyx with a freestanding bathtub complete with hydrotherapy jets and chromotherapy, a sauna, and a steam shower. The “Crystal Petal” faucets in Baccarat crystal and the “Lalique Parakeets” wall sconces were designed by Pierre-Yves Rochon. A second bedroom, bathroom, dressing rooms, and a kitchenette complete the suite. The suite also features a dedicated butler access.
The Presidential Diamond Suite is a 151-square-metre private apartment, opening onto two terraces of 15 and 5-square-metres overlooking the port. This two-bedroomed suite is arranged around a central living room. Two bathrooms feature a whirlpool bathtub facing the sea, a shower in Calacatta Oro marble with grey and gold veining, a wall waterfall, and mosaic floors.
On the hotel’s second floor, these two suites can be connected upon request to create a 434-square-metre space accommodating up to eight guests, with four bedrooms, four bathrooms, dressing rooms, two living rooms, an office, and a dining room.
