Winter Olympics: Princess Alexandra attends Figure Skating with Prince Albert II
A former figure skater herself, Princess Alexandra of Hanover showed her passion for the sport when she joined Prince Albert II in the figure skating stands on 10 and 11 February 2026. The Princess, accompanied by her partner Ben-Sylvester Strautmann, first watched the men’s individual figure skating short program at the Milano Ice Skating Arena. A skater since the age of ten, Princess Alexandra ranked second in her category at the Monaco Figure Skating Championships in 2011 and represented the Principality at the European Winter Youth Olympic Festival in 2015, where she was the flag bearer for the Monegasque federation. She attended several ice events during these Olympics, including the rhythm dance event on 9 February and the free dance on 11 February.
Grand Duke Henri presents Gold Medals to Guillaume Cizeron and Laurence Fournier Beaudry
Princess Alexandra and Prince Albert II watched Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg present the gold, silver, and bronze medals after the final of the ice dance competition at the Winter Olympics on 11 February. As a member of the International Olympic Committee, the Grand Duke attended the 145th IOC Session earlier last week, along with Prince Albert II. France took home the gold, followed by the United States and Canada. The French pair, Guillaume Cizeron and Laurence Fournier Beaudry, have been skating together for only a year and won with a performance set to the soundtrack of the film “The Whale”.
Prince Albert II supports 1st Monaco Athletics Festival with Olympic champion Mutaz Barshim
The inaugural Monaco Athletics Festival, co-created by Olympic champion Mutaz Barshim and the Monegasque Athletics Federation, and supported by Prince Albert II, will be taking place on the Quai Albert 1er on 5 August 2026.
The world’s best high jumpers are expected to compete in this brand-new urban high jump competition. Prince Albert II, President of the Monegasque Athletics Federation (FMA), announced the new competition on 12 February alongside Mutaz Barshim, three-time world champion and Olympic high jump gold-medallist. The Monaco event will be part of the What Gravity Tour, a global circuit launched in 2025 by Mutaz Barshim to promote and revitalize the high jump. Structured as a league, this format allows the world’s best jumpers to accumulate points at various international events throughout the season.
Prince Albert II, Princess Charlene, Jacques and Gabriella attend Olympic Curling Events
Prince Albert II, Princess Charlene and the Princely Twins attended several Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic events on 14 and 15 February. Firstly, the family attended the women’s curling events and even received a private curling demonstration. At the Cortina d’Ampezzo, the family watched three women’s curling matches: Italy vs. China, England vs. Canada, and Switzerland vs. Japan. After these preliminaries, where Sweden and Switzerland progressed to the gold medal game, the Prince and his family went onto the ice rink with World Curling President Beau Welling, who offered them a demonstration. The twins were able to slide the curling stone along the ice.
Princely Family presents Winter Olympic Skeleton Medals
On Sunday 15 February, the Princely family headed to the legendary Olimpia delle Tofane slope to watch the women’s giant slalom. Italian skier Federica Brignone won Olympic gold to a standing ovation in her home nation.
In the late afternoon, the Princely Family travelled to the Cortina Sliding Centre to attend the mixed team skeleton event. Prince Albert II presented the medals to the winners. The UK took home the gold, ahead of two German teams. The twins also attended the Paris Games with their parents in 2024.
Princess Caroline inaugurates ‘The Feeling of Nature’ Exhibition at Villa Paloma
The day before the its official opening, the Princess of Hanover inaugurated “Le Sentiment de La Nature” on 12 February. The exhibition explores contemporary art through the work of Nicolas Poussin at the Nouveau Musée National de Monaco’s Villa Paloma. Classical paintings and various contemporary works have been brought together for the event: sculptures, installations, photographs, videos, films, paintings and drawings, on every floor of Villa Paloma. The curation pays tribute to Poussin and the marvels of nature in six sections: Storms and Nights; Forests and Gardens; Seascapes and Waterfalls; Deserts and Volcanoes; Mountains; Flowers and Butterflies. The exhibition, which is accompanied by a catalog published by Humboldt, runs until 25 May 2026.
Charlene and Albert spend Valentine’s Day in Italy, 20 years after their first appearance as a Couple at the Winter Games
On Valentine’s Day, Princess Charlene joined Prince Albert II in northern Italy for the Winter Olympics. Exactly 20 years ago, the Prince made his relationship with Charlene official during the Winter Olympics in Turin. The opening ceremony had taken place on 10 February 2006.
This year, the Sovereign arrived in northern Italy a few days before the opening ceremony to attend the opening of the 145th IOC session.
