Another brace from Mbappé and strikes from Germain and Fabinho restored the Red & Whites’ three point advantage over Paris and Nice.

With two attack-minded teams facing off, the Stade Louis-II crowd knew they were in for a spectacular evening within the opening seconds of the match. There were just four minutes on the clock when Mbappé opened the score with a lovely volley after a move started by Silva, who surged deep into the Nantes defence, and with inadvertent assistance from Dji Dji and Lima.

ANOTHER BRACE FOR MBAPPÉ
The action was end to end, with Nantes attacking and AS Monaco countering at breakneck pace! But the best chances fell to the home side. Mbappé was thwarted by Dupé twice, while Silva was displaying all his incredible technique, with one fantastic combination of chest control, sombrero and volley blocked by a defender. It was almost a goal of the season contender, but AS Monaco netted two more before the break. First, Glik found Germain who poked home from a half-cleared corner (43 mins), then Mbappé headed in a sumptuous Silva cross to send AS Monaco in with a 3-0 advantage at the break.

ANOTHER PENALTY FOR FABINHO
There was an understandable resigned air to Nantes as they came out for the second half. In the 53rd minute, Germain sent a header just wide. A fourth goal looked on the cards, and duly arrived just before the hour mark when Lemar was brought down by Dji Dji in the Nantes penalty area. The referee awarded a spot-kick, which Fabinho despatched coolly. If Sergio Conceiçao had harboured any ideas of taking something from the game, their hopes were well and truly dashed with half an hour still to play.

CARDONA CLOSE TO HIS FIRST SENIOR GOAL…
Half an hour in which AS Monaco calmly controlled proceedings, while Leonardo Jardim gave Mbappé, Silva and Germain a breather, bringing on Moutinho, Dirar and Cardona. The latter was straight into the action, linking up well with Lemar before making a superb run through the middle. He looked to have bagged Monaco’s fifth when he deflected Lemar’s cross, but Dupé got a foot to the ball to keep it out (89 mins). There were no more goals, but it was an excellent night for AS Monaco, who preserve their three point lead at the top to keep rivals PSG and Nice at bay. Their next game is on Saturday against Bordeaux! Daghe Munegu!
