Qualifying, friendlies… What’s ahead for AS Monaco’s internationals

Winners at the Stade de Reims just before the international break in October, many of our Rouge et Blanc joined their respective international teams to successfully complete the next set of matches: preparations for AFCON 2023, qualifying for Euro 2024… Here’s all you need to know.

They left for the national team with a feeling of accomplishment. The Monegasque internationals have indeed started the second international window of the season with significant confidence, resulting from the two consecutive victories obtained against OM (3-2) and Stade de Reims (1-3). And it will be no small matter, given the importance of the matches that await Youssouf Fofana’s teammates in their respective selections.

The Euros and AFCON in sight

Precisely, the French midfielder is preparing to experience a big match against the Netherlands, as part of the Euro 2024 qualifiers. Just like Denis Zakaria, who is pursuing the same goal with Switzerland. Already qualified for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations which will take place next January, Mohamed Camara (Mali), Krépin Diatta and Ismail Jakobs (Senegal) as well as Wilfried Singo (Ivory Coast) will be in preparation mode for the event.

In action for France’s youth teams!

Of note is Takumi Minamino returning for  Japan, while Guillermo Maripán is already looking towards the 2026 World Cup with Chile. Among the youngsters this time, the Monegasques are involved with the French teams, with in particular three representatives among Les Espoirs managed by Thierry Henry, in the race for Euro 2025 in their age group. But there are also players from La Diagonale in U20 and U19 and three with the U-18s.
