The Monegasques scored at the break and found the resources to come back in front, but Marseille won with a goal in added time (3-2). Frustrating.
With a fine debut from Benjamin Henrichs, the club put together a quality performance but fell 3-2 to Marseille at the Stade Louis II on the fourth matchday of Ligue 1 play. After going down in the first half, Monaco battled back with goals from Youri Tielemans in the 48th minute and Radamel Falcao five minutes later with a fine finish inside the box to turn the game around, but it wasn’t enough in the end.
The club had a fine pass accuracy of 74 percent and created eight shots, but it was Florian Thauvin’s goal in the 74th minute that brought the visitors level before Valere Germain scored in the 89th minute to completed the scoreline.
The club will be back in action on Saturday, Aug. 15 against Toulouse, which comes after the international break.
