Lecture – Pierre Leguillon

Lecture by Pierre Leguillon “Artists’ Homes: The Collection as a Tool”, organized in partnership with the Nouveau Musée National de Monaco, will be held on Thursday, November 5, 6.30 pm at Bosio Pavilion, Garden Room.
Pierre Leguillon (born 1969) is a French artist based in Brussels. His multifaceted, performative practice centers on the production and reproduction of a wide variety of images, arranged within installations specifically designed for the spaces that house them. For over thirty years, he has amassed a vast collection of images and objects—without regard for period or genre—housed within his “Musée des Erreurs” (Museum of Errors), founded in Brussels in 2013. In doing so, he embraces the role of an artist-collector. In conjunction with the exhibition “Victor Brauner: The Magical Adventure”—which features works by the Romanian artist, all drawn from a private collection in Monaco—ten non-Western objects once collected by Victor Brauner are also on display. It is in this context that Pierre Leguillon has been invited to present a range of artists’ collections, exploring how these artists stage their objects within their own domestic interiors—to the point where the collections merge with their own artworks, potentially forming a “Gesamtkunstwerk”, or “total work of art.” Pierre Leguillon will discuss his own “apartment-museum,” as well as the collections of architects Sir John Soane and Carlo Mollino, and artists such as Ana Jotta, Robert Therrien, David Ireland, and Carol Rama, among others.
