#hello_monaco weekend: what to do on 16 and 17 December

It is the last weekend before Christmas, great time to finish shopping for presents and start to relax, especially since there is so much going on in the Principality.

Eglise Sainte-Dévote

Music is in the air! In Eglise Sainte-Dévote on Saturday 16 December, at 8.30 pm will be a Christmas Concert by the Ensemble Orchestral et Choral des Alpes de la Mer with Silvano Rodi, organ and Massimo La Guardia, tenor conducted by Giulio Magnanini, as part of the In Tempore Organi, 3rd International Organ Cycle.

The Musicians of the Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra, Julia-Sophie Wagner, soprano and Matthias Persson, trumpet conducted by Achim Fiedler prepared another Christmas concert on Sunday 17 December, at 4 pm Eglise Saint-Charles.

On the programme: George Frideric Handel, Johann Sebastian Bach and Arthur Honegger.

Even in the theater it’s all about music!

"Piano Rigoletto and Tutti Frutti",

“Piano Rigoletto and Tutti Frutti”, a musical show by Alain Bernard, Jean-Claude Islert and Pascal Légitimus with Alain Bernard on Friday 29 and Saturday 30 December, at 8.30 pm, Sunday 31 December, at 7.00 pm and 10.00 pm in Théâtre des Muses.

The music theme in on in the Grimaldi Forum Monaco as well. First by the Screening of the musical film “Cabaret” by Bob Fosse, in association with the Monaco Audiovisual Archives, organised by Monaco Dance Forum on Sunday 17 December, in Salle Camille Blanc.

Another event there is “Viva Momix Forever” dance performances by Moses Pendleton performed by the Momix Company, organised by Monaco Dance Forum on Saturday 16 December and Sunday 17 December, at 8 pm Grimaldi Forum – Salle Prince Pierre.

Viva Momix Forever was created in 2015 to celebrate Momix’s 35th anniversary spent on the most important scenes around the world, and it’s with a spectacular collection of his most iconic and significant choreographies that Moses Pendleton, charismatic creator and Artistic Director of the company, intends to emphasize this fundamental goal. A mix of brilliant beautiful choreographies, new creations and masterpieces of the company’s history: from Momix Classics, Passion, Baseball, Opus Cactus, Lunar Sea, to the recent Botanica and the latest great success of Alchemia. Viva Momix Forever is a celebration between Momix and its audience, renewed each year: a perfect couple having always fun together, emotions, playing around and continues to exhilarate now two generations!


And since you are there, you can also stop by the 1st International Fair featuring Minerals, Fossils, Jewellery, Precious Stones and Meteorites on Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 December, from 10 am to 6 pm Grimaldi Forum Monaco.

60 exhibitors  coming from Pakistan, Morocco, Spain, Madagascar, Italy, Belgium, Germany, Mexico, Brazil will propose to the public real marvels. Fossils dating 500 million years with exceptional pieces. Crane of tiger will be presented to the public (huge Ammonites, bones of dinosaurs, reptiles etc.). Crystals of the whole world, the infinitely colored minerals, the shells, the jewels, the fascinating precious stones and the rare gemstones …

One of center events of this weekend is the Christmas Ball. Auction sale and tombola in aid of the Princess Charlene Foundation organised by Five Stars Events on Saturday 16 December at 8:30 pm Hôtel Hermitage Monte-Carlo.

Roca team vs Antibes

There are quite a few sports events this weekend as well. On Saturday 16 December at 7 pm in Salle Omnisports Gaston Médecin, Stade Louis II there is PRO A Basketball Championship game between Monaco and Antibes.

Monaco 2K Team Race

In Monaco Bay will unfold the Monaco 2K Team Race, organised by the Yacht Club of Monaco from Friday 15 December to Sunday 17 December.

The Monaco 2K Team Race is the final stage of the 2K Tour 2017, a five-event two-on-two team racing circuit for young sailors (20-25 years old) from major yacht clubs, organised under the supervision of international PRO Bruce Hebbert. Our sailors from Monaco will be competing against seven other teams selected to take part in the grand finale.

U Giru de Natale

And don’t forget about the traditional “U Giru de Natale” (10 km circuit in Monaco) organised by the Police Sports Association of Monaco on Sunday 17 December at 10:30 am Port de Monaco.

U Giru de Natale is the ultimate running of Monaco open to all, with routes suitable for young and old. Each year, more than 2000 athletes meet to pace the circuit of the Grand Prix and the magnificent streets of Monaco. It is a unique gathering under the sign of the festivity not to be missed!

"The Fabulous Voyage of Melody the Fairy",

And for kids Théâtre des Muses prepared a special show: “The Fabulous Voyage of Melody the Fairy” by and with Stéphanie Marino on Sunday 17 December, at 3.30 pm.

Interactive and musical journey, mixing theater, songs, shadows and illusions.

Thunderbolt in the land of notes: Melody the fairy of music has lost her “La”! She goes out looking for it and makes extraordinary encounters during her journey that will guide her through several worlds to carry out her quest.

But beware, the Ogre Barbarie is around and it will take a lot of courage for Melodie to face it.

Tickets range between 13,99 and 15,99 euros.
