This weekend we are going to watch the conclusion of the 79th Cannes Film Festival, watch sports competitions and listen to beautiful music.

Spring on the French Riviera marks the awakening of the region after the winter season. In May, the rich and famous flock to Monaco and the Côte d’Azur for two major events: the Cannes Film Festival and the Monaco Grand Prix™. The Cannes Film Festival is an annual event showcasing new films of all genres, including documentaries, from around the world. Founded in 1946, the invitation-only festival is hosted each year at the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès. And this weekend we will see the award of the 2026 Palme d’Or.

Monte-Carlo International Swimming Meeting – Mare Nostrum will be held on May 23–24 at Prince Albert II swimming pool (at Louis II Stadium).
The Monaco Swimming Federation is also a founding member of the Mare Nostrum Swim Tour and welcomes swimmers and fans alike on 23–24 May, for the 2026 edition! This circuit is unique in the world of swimming, as confirmed today by the presence of a galaxy of international-level swimmers, and is an outstanding technical opportunity for coaches, with three very high-level meetings held over eight days. All the countries of the world come to take part in the Mare Nostrum swimming event.

Symphonic Concert of the Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra with Elias Grandy, direction and Jean-Yves Thibaudet, piano is organized on Sunday 24 May 2026 at 6 pm in Auditorium Rainier III.

The play The Art of Being My Father will be on stage of Theatre des Muses from 21 to 23 May 2026 at 8 pm and on Sunday, May 24 at 4:30pm.
With Zoé’s parents having just separated, her father, wanting to spend time with her, directs the school’s end-of-year show: the musical “Les Misérables.” Through rehearsals throughout the school year, this extraordinary director tries to instill in the children his love of poetry, his profound sensitivity to the world, and the importance of art in life… But things don’t go as smoothly as planned, because the transgressions and excesses of this bipolar father threaten to derail the show. Will it even go on?
Playing a dozen characters herself, Julie Timmerman guides us through this intimate and collective story with great humor and just as much love, navigating between depths and light.

And don’t forget about the exhibitions. For example, from March 2 to June 15, 2026, Le Méridien Beach Plaza unveils Japan Highlights, an immersive exploration of Japan through the distinct yet complementary perspectives of Franck Solimeis and Carole Micallef.
Blending photography and digital artistry, the exhibition explores the compelling contrasts of a country where centuries-old traditions coexist with cutting-edge modernity. Quiet temples, contemplative landscapes, vibrant cities and contemporary aesthetics unfold in a richly immersive artistic experience.
Of course there are other interesting events taking place in Monaco. If you want to learn more about them visit our Calendar.
So have fun and enjoy your weekend!
