#hello_monaco weekend: what to do on September 3rd and September 4th

Autumn has arrived bringing with it lots of interesting events. And HelloMonaco is ready to tell you all about them.

The Garden of Princess Antoinette (Le Parc Princesse Antoinette)
By Jean Ronin

An event not to be missed this weekend is “U Cavagnëtu”, the traditional Monegasque picnic on Saturday September 3, 2022 at Parc Princesse Antoinette.

After two years of absence, the traditional Monegasque picnic, “U Cavagnëtu”, is back this year! As usual, it will be held at Parc Princesse Antoinette.

This traditional meeting is reserved for Monegasques and their spouses who must present an identity document at the entrance. Access to the Park will be possible from 5:15 p.m.

The evening will begin at 6 p.m. with a mass celebrated on the Parc Omnisports Ground and will continue around a picnic in a musical atmosphere provided by the choir of U Cantin d’A Roca and by a Jazz Quartet, led by Lionel Vaudano, professor at the Rainier III Academy.
On the day of the picnic, from 5 p.m., access to the Monaco bus network and parking in the Jardin Exotique car park will be free on presentation of the Monegasque identity card or invitation.

The 1st Princess Gabriella Challenge will welcome 76 teams on the 3rd and 4th of September 2022 in Espace Saint-Antoine (the competition is now already completely full of teams). The prize fund is 5000 euros. Teams from France, Belgium, Italy, Switzerland and the best players will be present as last year in Monaco. The Monegasque Boules Federation itself will present 8 teams.

As all the teams will be present on the first day it is advisable to come on Saturday 3rd September to get the chance to see them all.

From Sunday on, it becomes a select list, namely the 8 teams that will be qualified. The cocktail party is at 6 p.m.

“Les Voiles Blanches Bettimask” operation
@Mairie de Monaco

For several years, the Town Hall of Monaco has been involved in the “Les Voiles Blanches Bettimask” (“The White Sails Bettimask”) operation, the aim of which is to collect toys and games for children which will be donated to the Lenval Foundation.

From September 3 to 25, the Pirate Blanc will board his Skaf sailboat and sail between the Bouches-du-Rhône, the Var, Monaco and the Alpes-Maritimes, passing through 25 ports on the Côte d’Azur, in order to recover chests full of toys.

Two safes are positioned within municipal sites: in the Hall of the Town Hall and at the Condamine Market.

Everyone is invited to drop off a game or toy that must be new and unwrapped for better distribution to children.

A solidarity approach that is a great success every year and which brings a little comfort and escape to hospitalized children.

Exhibition - "Le Chat Déambule"
@lechat.com

There are several interesting exhibitions open in Monaco. To begin there is “Le Chat Déambule” by the Belgian artist Philippe Geluck, organised by the Department of Cultural Affairs from Tuesday 5 July to Sunday 2 October 2022, Esplanade du Larvotto.

Exposition Christian Bérard, Excentrique Bébé - Villa Paloma
@NMNM

Christian Bérard, Excentrique Bébé continues the NMNM programme of exhibitions dedicated to the revolutionary aesthetics developed by Serge Diaghilev in Monte-Carlo. Heralding certain aspects of contemporary art, the cross-disciplinary approach taken by the founder of the Ballets Russes brought radical transformation to the decorative arts during the 1910s and ’20s and had a lasting influence on visual and performance art to this day.

Exhibition «En rêvant la Méditerranée» ("Dreaming of the Mediterranean") by Antoine Pierini

The Center of National Monuments welcomes you to the Villa Kérylos, Beaulieu-sur-Mer, France at the exhibition «En rêvant la Méditerranée» (“Dreaming of the Mediterranean”), by Antoine Pierini from May 8th to Septembre 18th, 2022.

Thousands of years old, the craft of glass has come to us from antiquity. Today, innumerable objects in glass make up our everyday life, while only a few of make it to the level which we would consider to be a work of art. Antoine Pierini, designer, glass artist, and inheritor of a savoir-faire transmitted from father to son, evokes a voyage across the sea and across time in an intimate epic that he has specifically created for the Villa Kérylos.

His amphoras in colored glass, whole or fragmented, coinhabit at the heart of the Villa Kérylos with those of antiquity, covered in a hoary concretion and who act as witnesses to the shipwrecks in a sea who has rested untamed all these millennia.

In this sensitive odyssey of glass and color, Antoine Pierini hands over his emotions born from unique experiences and communal memories. Each work carries within itself the richness of history, the strength of sensations, and not only is each an invitation to voyage into the Mediterranean, but also an invitation to dream of it.

Of course there are other interesting events taking place in Monaco. If you want to learn more about them visit our Calendar.

So have fun and enjoy your weekend!
