AS Monaco’s First Recyclable Football helps the preservation of the oceans

In collaboration with the Rebond company, the Principality’s club AS Monaco is launching a unique eco-designed and recyclable ball bearing its image. On the occasion of European Sustainable Development Week (up to October 8, 2022) AS Monaco has been delighted to announce its participation, alongside 19 other French professional clubs, in the Rebond project.

An eco-responsible ball enhancing the Red & White symbols

It’s a unique and ambitious initiative that now makes it possible to offer the very first recyclable football made from vegetable and recycled materials. Designed by the artist Docteur Paper, the ball intertwines key elements of the Principality of Monaco and iconic representations of the Club and its history.

A Unique Christmas Present

To order this very special ball you can go now to the crowdfunding platform Ulule and be one of the first 500 buyers who will receive their order before the Christmas holidays (search Ulule with the keyword «ball» or «rebond»). Beyond that, you would have to wait until March 2023 for it to be delivered; or you can go to the AS Monaco store, which will be offering this ball to Rouge & Blanc supporters, online and in stores, from December.

AS Monaco is proud to present its first recyclable football, made from plant-based and recycled materials!

The profits made by the Club will be donated to the Oceanographic Institute – Fondation Albert 1er, Prince de Monaco.

While Rebond will reinvest its profits to finance the next stages of research and development of eco-designed balls, AS Monaco will donate its entire share to the Oceanographic Institute – Albert I, Prince of Monaco Foundation. Each ball sold will thus contribute to the preservation of the oceans and the protection of marine fauna and flora.

This initiative is part of the environmental pillar of AS Monaco’s Corporate Social Responsibility (labelled CSR) policy and marks an additional step in the Club’s eco-responsible approach, in continuation of the Club’s membership of the label initiated last June.

The Rebound project

Because sport is at the heart of our lives and the ball is one of the essential tools for the practice of many disciplines, Rebond wanted to reinvent the ball.

Rebond makes sports balls differently: thanks to its innovations, the company has chosen to make them an ethical, eco-responsible and local product. It works on three main axes:

  • Developing balls in bio-sourced materials (with organic matter residues)
  • Working on a circular economy around the ball by recycling or upcycling end-of-life products
  • Developing a French production chain
