Environmental Photography Award 2023 is Open for Photographers to Register

Created in 2021, on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the Prince Albert II Foundation, the Environmental Photography Award is an annual competition aimed at rewarding photographers who put their creativity at the service of raising awareness of environmental protection.

Photographers are invited to take a look at our relationship with nature and the close links between human health and planetary health.

“Building on the success of the first two editions, we want to continue to develop the Environmental Photography Prize and, through it, the reflection around our relationship to the world and to nature. We are pleased to note the growing interest expressed by international photographers who are taking part in the competition in increasing numbers, but also the attention gained from a large public through the exhibitions that we have been able to offer in the Principality but also in Italy, San Marino, Spain and the United States,” says Olivier Wenden, Vice-President and Managing Director of the Foundation.

To Register Your Photos in the Competition

Registrations, free of charge, are open from November 2nd, 2022 to January 15th, 2023, on the specialized Photocrowd platform.

Photographers can submit up to five photographs in each of the categories:

* Polar Wonders

* Marine Worlds

* In the Heart of the Forest

* Humanity versus Nature

* Agents of change, bearers of hope

Images should be submitted to the competition page: www.photocrowd.com/fpa2.photoaward

The photographs selected by the jury will be presented as part of an exhibition in the Principality, followed by international tours, and will be published in the catalog of the 2023 Environmental Photography Award.

Sergio Pitamitz, President of the Jury, says: “Photography is a powerful tool to give voice to threatened wildlife and endangered ecosystems …few competitions are really committed to the preservation of nature and the environment; the Environmental Photography Prize, organized by the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, is one of them.”

Jury

The prestigious jury of professional photographers will designate a selection of images for each category, as well as the winning photographs for the five themes. From these five winners, they will then choose the Environmental Photographer of the Year 2023.

Prizes

The 2023 Environmental Photographer of the Year will be announced at the awards ceremony in Monaco. The winner will receive the sum of €5,000 as well as the privilege of traveling to Ecuador to visit the research base of the SEK International University in the Amazon rainforest.

The winners of the five categories will each receive a prize of €1,000. The public prize will be awarded by an online vote among all the photographs selected by the jury. This vote will be accessible to all, for a period of two weeks from April 3, 2023. The winner of the public prize will receive €500.

The High School Student Prize is a novelty for this 3rd edition. In collaboration with the Department of National Education, Youth and Sports of the Prince’s Government, high school students in the Principality will be invited to participate in a specific online vote, following an intervention by the Prince Albert Foundation II of Monaco aimed at raising awareness among students and opening up dialogue on the major environmental issues we face. The winning photographer will receive €500.

Selected photographs from the Competition will find their way in exhibitions, local and International with the view to raising awareness of the need to protect nature and the environment.

The 3rd (2023) edition of the Environmental Photography Award of the Prince Albert II Foundation is in partnership with Barclays Private Bank and SEK International University.
