Silver in Taranto as Monaco’s Xiaoxin Yang Continues Her Mediterranean Medal Streak
Xiaoxin Yang has once again put Monaco on the Mediterranean Games podium, winning silver in the women’s table tennis tournament in Taranto.
The result completes an impressive hat-trick for the Monegasque player: silver in Tarragona in 2018, gold in Oran four years later and now another silver at the 2026 Games. Yet this latest medal may carry particular significance. Yang returned to competition less than a year ago following a break for motherhood.
Beneath Monaco’s Waves: Photographers Capture a Hidden World
Monaco’s seabed became both a studio and a stage as the 21st Monaco National Underwater Photography Competition brought together some of the Principality’s most talented underwater photographers.
Organised by the Monaco Underwater Exploration Club (CESMM), the competition welcomed 24 participants in 12 teams. Benefiting from excellent weather and particularly favourable diving conditions, the pairs explored Monegasque waters in search of marine life, striking compositions and fleeting moments usually hidden beneath the surface.
Council of Europe holds Meeting at Oceanographic Museum, Reception at Princely Palace
Monaco hosted the Committee of the Council of Europe during their 1567th meeting on 2 September 2026. One hundred ambassadors and permanent representatives of 46 Member States convened at the Oceanographic Museum before a reception at the Princely Palace. The events were one of the highlights of Monaco’s current Presidency of the Council of Europe.
Isabelle Berro-Amadeï, who is representing Monaco during its presidency of the Council of Europe’s Committee of Ministers, opened the meeting. The Government Councillor had first addressed the Council of Europe on 20 May in Strasbourg, at the first meeting chaired by Monaco.
