Open Doors Day at the archives on 10 June

The National Archives Preparatory Team (MPAN), which was established in 2021, and the Central Records Office (SCADA) are getting actively involved in the fourth International Archives Week. This year, the event, which is organised throughout the world by the International Council on Archives, of which the Prince’s Government has been a member for the last 12 months, is centred around the theme #ArchivesAreYou to help the public discover archives.

To mark the occasion, MPAN and SCADA are opening up the archives to the public on Friday 10 June, from 9.30 a.m. to 5 p.m. If you would like to visit, simply make a booking by emailing scada@gouv.mc or telephoning 98 98 95 00.

The two organisations will present the national archives project, archivist professions and original documents which are symbolic of the Principality’s contemporary history (primarily the twentieth century), representing a wide variety of types: autograph letters written by twentieth-century figures, old posters, maps and plans (port facilities, piers, lighthouses, sewers, first areas reclaimed from the sea, etc. from the early twentieth century), old photographs, old directories and official journals of the Principality, collections of handwritten and printed regulatory texts from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, etc.

In the documents presented, there will be a focus on Prince Albert I, to mark the commemoration of the centenary of his death this year, and on sporting archives (F1 Grand Prix, ASM, etc.).
