The 2023 season at Monte-Carlo Beach focuses on festivities and local products

Summer at Monte-Carlo Beach is set to be more local, more festive and greener. Following on from the success of the 2022 season, chef Mélanie Serre is once again at the helm of Restaurant Elsa, with the ambition of going further still in the celebration of local flavours, in close collaboration with regional producers. New in 2023: Pointe de La Vigie becomes a private club with Le Club La Vigie Monte-Carlo, which will give a festive spirit to days spent by the water, starting 2 June 2023. Finally, Monte-Carlo Beach is pursuing its environmental approach with the creation of a non-motorised water sports centre (pedalo, paddle board, canoeing, etc.) and the implementation of actions to preserve precious water resources.

Chef Mélanie Serre honours a cuisine rooted in her territory at Restaurant Elsa

Originally from the Ardèche area of France, Mélanie Serre’s cuisine is sincere, generous and faithful to her roots. For this new summer season, the teams at Monte-Carlo Beach and the chef have decided to feature more and more local products on the menu of Restaurant Elsa. Organic products will continue to be in the limelight, depending on availability and maturity, and will be joined by a growing number of local products: fruits, vegetables, olive oils, line-caught fish, local meat, regional wine, etc.

This choice based on principle supports the development of the local ecosystem, which creates jobs and boosts the social fabric. Monte-Carlo Beach thus works closely with local gardens, such as Jardin des Antipodes in Menton for herbs and fruits, and Domaine d’Agerbol on the heights of Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, which supplies Elsa with zero-km organic vegetables from field to fork. The restaurant also works with Domaine Oléicole Lessatini, a family-run business for four generations on the hills of Nice, the Monegasque fisherman Eric Rinaldi and Verinni fishery which obtains its supplies from small fishermen operating off Imperia. Restaurant Elsa will also be proposing, for the first time, a selection of natural wines and the wine menu will be according to their geographical proximity.

The origin of the products is fundamental. Working hand-in-hand with local producers is a source of joy, inspiration and creativity for me… An explosion of flavours awaits you in our restaurant this year. Be prepared to be surprised!” comments Mélanie Serre.

A few of the delights on the menu in April 2023:

  • Langoustine tartare, Osciètre caviar with fresh cucumber juice and Granny Smith apple
  • Pan-friend foie gras escalope, ravioli of beef cheek confit, mushrooms and clarified broth with fresh herbs
  • Crique with herbs from my childhood, garden vegetables, mild goat’s cheese sauce and spring onions
  • Roasted saddle of lamb, tomato sauce with harissa, young spring vegetables and chickpea panisses with black olive
  • Sweet pickled cucumber, honey and lemon mousse, roasted rice

Club La Vigie for festive days in a natural and relaxed setting

From 2 June 2023, la Pointe de La Vigie will be turning into a private club from noon to 8pm. In an unspoilt natural setting on the seafront, this little piece of paradise is getting back to its roots to become the new place to be for festive afternoons and sunsets on the Riviera. In an elegant and effervescent atmosphere, Club La Vigie will combine a beach club feel at the water’s edge, with Signature food, creative cocktails and cutting-edge musical programming. The location will reveal the best kept secret at Monte-Carlo Beach since 1952 – bungalows tucked away among the pines, rechristened “Love Nests” for those intimate moments as a couple or among friends. Access will be by boat, with a shuttle offering easy access to Maona Monte-Carlo to continue the evening under the stars.

A non-motorised water sports centre and concrete actions for a more environmentally aware and more responsible summer

Green Globe certified since 2014, Monte-Carlo Beach is committed to making continuous environmental progress. From the end of May, non-motorised water sports – pedalo, paddleboard and canoeing – will be proposed within its Beach Club.

And because water is an increasingly precious resource in a land marked by drought, the hotel has implemented concrete actions to save and reuse water. In 2023, the hotel will be setting up a rainwater collection system in the Resort’s former nursery ponds.

In keeping with its ambition to protect the surrounding biodiversity, Monte-Carlo Beach is extending the “LPO refuge” (Ligue pour la Protection des Oiseaux – Bird Protection League) in Pointe de La Vigie, which will be quadrupled in size, thus creating a vast natural nesting ground of 20,000 m². Finally, the establishment is continuing to contribute to the development of soft forms of mobility in the Principality with the introduction of a MonaBike electric bike station.
