Celebrating Prince Alberts 60th Birthday with an Immersive Concert in Monacos Cathedral

To celebrate the 60th birthday of HSH Prince Albert II, a multi-sensory concert entitled ‘Elements’ took place on Wednesday the 14th of March at the Cathedral. The inner walls of the building came to life with startlingly beautiful projections as spectators held their breath during the mesmerizing display, with the Princely family as the guests of honour.

150 Monegasque artists performed: singers from the Opera as well as their younger counterparts from the Rainier III Academy of Music, musicians the Philharmonic Orchestra and the Prince’s Carabiniers Orchestra. Projections played with the Cathedral’s architectural elements, based on the themes of earth, water, fire and air. Spectators were taken on a voyage under the ocean and up through celestial galaxies before celebrating life on Earth. The emotion was palpable, the projections were technically exquisite and the joining together of Monegasque talent created a magical, unforgettable experience, all to honour and celebrate the Prince on his birthday.

Prince Albert Honours Monegasque Red Cross Graduates

The graduation ceremony for the Monegasque Red Cross took place in the Rainier III Auditorium in the presence of HSH Prince Albert II. The Monegasque Red Cross is a major organization in the Principality and all its recent graduates were honoured during the First aid diploma event.  The traditional celebration was also an opportunity to unveil record-breaking figures: the number of people trained in first aid this year was over 2,200 people, more than any other year in the organization’s 70 years of existence. The Sovereign Prince paid tribute to the new graduates, as they commit themselves to helping others in Monaco and abroad.

Prince Alberts Official Visit to Colombia: Explorations, Archeology and Beach Soccer

Prince Albert is currently on an official visit to Colombia, where he met with President Juan Manuel Santos and participated in a Peace And Sport event before he boards the research vessel the Yersin.

A beach soccer match for kids took place in district of Cartagena, in the presence of Prince Albert II, Colombian President and Nobel Peace Prize winner Juan Manuel Santos, and Didier Drogba, a soccer star. The balls and goals were made from recycled materials to demonstrate that expensive equipment isn’t necessary for sports. The next day, both heads of state left for Perdida to visit the archaeological site of the ancient city of Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta.

Prince Albert II will then join the scientific team aboard the Yersin, a Monegasque vessel, as they conduct their second mission off the coast of the island of Malpelo between the 20th and 24th of March. The crew aims to list the species they find, and if they are lucky, discover new ones.
