Mission accomplished. The Red & Whites got the job done at home as they saw off Caen 2-0 to reach the quarter-finals of the competition. Following his heroics against Troyes, Guido Carrillo continued his run of form to put the Monegasques in front in the first half. After being played in perfectly by Rony Lopes who went on a 20 yard run, the Argentine striker finished with a lovely shot from the edge of the box (1-0, 33′).

Guido was inches away from making it two on the hour mark after great work from Toure. But the job was already done as Leonardo Jardim’s men controlled the game well. Radamel Falcao then lit up the match with his class and skill after coming on as a late sub. Seeing Samba off his line, El Tigre went for goal from over 40 yards our and duly hit the bullseye. A truly stunning effort. The Monegasques are up and running in the competition, and can now prepare for Friday’s trip to Saint-Etienne (20.45).
