Facing such a strong team poses a significant challenge, and the players are more than ready for it.

And they have Ambassador Maxime Mermoz at hand to advise them. Here’s what he told HelloMonaco: «I live not far from Toulon. I met the president three years ago. And we talked about rugby, life and since I’m retired I wanted to be involved in the club and to help a team, to promote the team and to start to be ambassador. It is just to help as an image, as a consultant. I let the coach work, I let the players work, I just try to give my opinion and to help the club to grow. I have some goals in my mind, but I let them build the team, and the club, and I’m not far to help to create in the future a big team and a big club.»

Meanwhile celebrations have been underway after a Victorious Weekend for the Seniors. The year has already started with a bang for our senior teams at A.S. Monaco Rugby! Two victories against Union Sportive Veore XV. The players showcased their determination on the field, and everyone is taking pride in their performance.

Never forget the Youth who represent the future of the Club. The M19 just secured a victory at home, paving the way for our future generations. A close defeat for our M16 will not dampen their spirits. They’ll rise to the next occasion.

Rugby is just as much about moments off the field as on it and the Rugby School is one of those special places where hearts and minds come together. The rugby school recently celebrated the traditional Epiphany cake with the seniors. A moment of conviviality and sharing among all generations of the large rugby family. In addition to the cake, donations collected during the Rugby Solidarity Challenge were presented …. commitment and generous support contributed to a noble cause.

Moments of conviviality and sharing. That’s what it is all about. It’s very much the philosophy of Maxime Mermoz who highlighted exactly that in his interview with HelloMonaco: «My son is here and I love to coach the adults and the young. The best advice is to enjoy what they do. The goal is not to be the best player in the world; it is just to enjoy moment, to share moments with a teammate and to grow as a person. Because rugby, we say it’s a life cycle.»

«We say in rugby, it’s all about the memories, it’s not the moment on the field, it’s off the field. And even me in my career, I had the chance to win a lot. But my memories, they are more the various moments on the pitch, like the prep, the mate I met, or when we go in the prep. So on the field …it is not always the most important for us. That’s why we say what’s important is to improve as a person, to improve the mindset, to improve the confidence, to know more about yourself. That’s why it’s a good lesson to play rugby because it’s not about the ball or the game, it’s about the mindset and to grow as a person.»
