Wedding in Monaco. The media event of 1956 screening and conference is organized on July 20, 2026 at 9.30 pm in Cour d’Honneur of the Prince’s Palace.

The discovery three years ago of a dozen boxes containing reels and outtakes from Jean Masson’s film “Le Mariage de Monaco” (1956) led to a plan to preserve this iconic document, whose distribution in Europe, as well as in the United States and Japan, contributed to the Principality’s media prominence. Alongside the photochemical and digital analysis carried out in the laboratory, the study of the film’s production conditions—unseen since its initial theatrical release—has shed light on its ambition as well as the challenges of a live shoot.

The history of this documentary, its restoration, and its analysis will be the focus of a film lecture which, alongside other filmed sources, will present, for the first time on the big screen in the courtyard of the Prince’s Palace, the restored 4K version of the film.
