INTERNATIONALLY RENOWNED CANNES YACHTING FESTIVAL TO CELEBRATE
ITS 40th ANNIVERSARY THIS SEPTEMBER
This September marks a very special anniversary for the Cannes Yachting Festival as it celebrates its 40th year in elegant, luxurious surroundings in the sparkling bay of Cannes. Taking place from 12th to 17th September 2017, the show has gone from strength to strength, last year more than 51,000 visitors from the 5 continents came to see the 630 boats on show.
Cannes Yachting Festival has been the first to take place in the international yachting calendar since 1977 and therefore forefront in showcasing the highest number of new model launches and innovative designs.
A grand event will take place during the Festival to mark the special 40th anniversary, which will celebrate the four decades of the magnificent show.
Recognised as one of the most important international boating events and Europe’s largest in-water show, the Cannes Yachting Festival is known for its eclecticism and the wealth of vessels presented in a range of sizes. Following the successful launch of La Terrasse during last year’s show, the Cannes Yachting Festival is unveiling the ‘Luxury Gallery’ situated within the Palais des Festivals which will be dedicated to premium brands outside of yachting. This will include watches, jewellery, fine sprits, fashion and accessories, household decoration, linens, furniture, design, art, high-tech products and services.
Last year Cannes Yachting Festival attended 51 000 visitors and more than 50% were from all over the world! This year organizers expect close to this figure number of visitors. The festival expands on two ports, represents 10 km of boats and 3 km of pontoons installed. There are 4 through-ways: floating docks equipped with a motorized central section which closes to enable visitors to move freely around the port.
Every year numerous exhibitors strive for be represented during this Festival. Last year figures are about to be repeated this year: 530 exhibitors (60% from outside of France) were presented at the Cannes Yachting Festival last year. 48% of exhibitors were boat manufacturers/importers and 52% represented other business sectors (equipment manufacturers, brokers, service providers, etc.).
Regarding the main character of the Festival, the yachts, organizers assure that this year there will be if not more than at least the same numbers of boats that took a part in the festival last year when 630 boats from 2.10 to 52 meters were presented. 191 new boats and yachts were showcasedduring the Cannes Yachting Festival,including 107 world premieres; 40 second-hand boats rangingfrom 22 to 52 meters were on displayat Port Pierre Canto; 140 yachts longer than 20 meters; 120 sail boats (20%); 45 multihulls, including 10 motor yachts.
Returning for a third year, the Cannes Yachting Festival’s Concours d’Elégance competition provides a unique spectacle of rare vintage and modern day boats at the heart of the worldrenowned show. A seamless addition to the show’s luxury credentials, the event will take place in the Vieux Port alongside the VIP pontoon and the Festival’s beach area on Thursday 14th September.
Exclusively open to exhibitors, owners and collectors of motorboats and day-boats of 12 metres or less, the event will be a rare occasion for visitors to admire the most exquisite fleet of the finest classic yachts, antique vessels as well as the latest releases on display at Cannes Yachting Festival.
Prices: Entry tickets can be purchased online for 15€ per person or at the show for 19€ per person.
The Riviera Card is a personal card for two people valid during the six-day Festival, priced at 1,089€ and a one-day VIP card €154.
Opening hours: Open daily from 10am. The show closes at 7pm, expect on Friday at 10pm, and Sunday at 6pm.
