The Fairmont Monte Carlo was recently awarded the Green Globe certification for the third consecutive year. The worlds top certification for sustainable tourism, Green Globe recognised the Fairmont’s dedication to the environment.

Sustainability is not a side project to our business; it is an integral part of it. With 596 rooms, over 5,000 m² of event space, 4 restaurants, and one of the largest catering operations on the French Riviera, our responsibility is in proportion to our footprint. This new Green Globe certification recognises the hotel’s approach and the daily commitment of all our teams,” said Alexandre Ariel, General Manager of the Fairmont Monte Carlo.

Developing thalassotherapy in Monaco for 50 years

The Fairmont Monte Carlo had a pioneering role in the development of thalassotherapy in Monaco since 1975. Having just celebrated half a century of history in Monaco, the hotel has demonstrated its commitment to a more responsible development model. As a signatory of the Monaco Mission for Energy Transition Pact, the hotel is contributing to the Principality’s objective of reducing its greenhouse gas emissions by 55% by 2030 compared to 1990 levels.

Some ways that hotel reduces waste and uses sustainable energy is by eliminating single-use plastics, installing solar panels, and using LED lighting. Since 2025, the Fairmont Monte Carlo’s thalassotherapy facilities have also been connected to the Principality’s energy network.
