With International Women’s Rights Day fast approaching, the government has revealed its exciting plans for the occasion. This year, all advocates will converge at the Espace Léo Ferré for a dynamic program featuring captivating performances.
The announcement came at the end of January during the fifth plenary session of the Committee for the Promotion and Protection of Women’s Rights. Céline Cottalorda, the interministerial delegate, shared details of the major event scheduled for March 8th. It’s a collective effort to showcase the extent of dedication to women’s rights. The day will be filled with conferences, workshops, and stalls hosted by various associations and services, and in the evening, an enthralling show.
PowHer
Dubbed PowHer, this event marks the first time all stakeholders have united under one roof for a cause that resonates deeply. Cottalorda emphasizes that the goal is to highlight the strength of Monaco’s collective commitment to women’s rights… It’s a full-day celebration, open to all, emphasizing everyone’s shared purpose.
The action-packed day at Espace Léo Ferré will run from 9 am to 8 pm, welcoming the public free of charge. From poetry readings by children to interactive theatre, roundtable discussions, and lectures, the program promises to engage and inspire.
Included is planned a talk on women in the workplace that will be led by representatives from the Association of Women Business Leaders of Monaco, not to mention a mini-conference on women in sport and a roundtable discussion on how the Principality is combatting violence against women.
Attendees can also participate in workshops throughout the day, including a “speed mentoring” session for young women aged 11 to 25, organized by SheCanHeCan and Femmes Chefs d’Entreprises de Monaco associations.
Women of Monaco Luncheon
On the same day is planned a special Women of Monaco luncheon held in honour of International Women’s Rights Day. Alongside dining, the lunch will reportedly feature a fashion show with works from sustainability-focused brand Art to Wear by Monaco-based designer and artist Camilla Ghione, a graduate of the Art Institute of New York.
The lunch will highlight its support for the club’s chosen charity, the Princess Grace Foundation; its goal to unite the international women of Monaco; and give credit to women going the extra mile via the Women of Monaco Awards.
Concluding with a Captivating Show
As the day draws to a close, a captivating show awaits, from 6:30 pm to 8 pm. The evening kicks off with a soulful performance by Nalla, accompanied by guitarist Florent Garcia, followed by keyboardist Sarah Coponat, offering a blend of classical, modern, lyrical, and cinematic compositions. The grand finale features “an ode to women in all their dimensions,” presented in a mesmerizing audiovisual experience directed by Erick Ifergan and performed by Ada Tedeschi, drawing inspiration from the works of Lewis Carroll, Rudyard Kipling, and Paul Eluard.
An online ticketing service has been launched to reserve seats for this empowering evening dedicated to women and women’s rights, ensuring accessibility for all.
