SBM and Be Safe Monaco Extend Partnership to Keep Summer Nights Safer

A night out in Monaco should end with good memories, not dangerous decisions behind the wheel. That is the thinking behind the renewed partnership between Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer (SBM) and Be Safe Monaco, which will continue for a third consecutive summer after the two organisations signed a fresh agreement aimed at reducing drink-driving and ensuring partygoers return home safely.

The renewed collaboration was formalised by SBM Chairman and Chief Executive Officer ( President-Delegate) Stéphane Valeri and Be Safe Monaco President Camille Gottlieb, reaffirming a partnership first launched in 2024.

From 1 July to 31 August, SBM is once again making its drivers available to operate Be Safe Monaco’s electric night shuttles on a rotating basis. The free service transports customers from Monaco’s nightlife venues safely to their homes within the Principality.

The shuttle operates Wednesday through Sunday, from midnight until 5:30 a.m., providing a practical alternative for anyone who has consumed alcohol and should not drive.

Be Safe Monaco

Founded in 2017, Be Safe Monaco has become one of the Principality’s best-known road safety initiatives, combining education with practical solutions to discourage drink-driving. The association was created under the leadership of Camille Gottlieb following a fatal road tragedy involving someone close to the group, with the aim of raising awareness, particularly among young people, and offering a safe alternative to getting behind the wheel after drinking.

The partnership has already demonstrated measurable results. Since SBM joined the initiative in 2024, 741 people have been driven home safely during the summer months, 355 passengers in 2024 and 386 in 2025. Organisers hope those numbers will continue to grow during the 2026 season as awareness of the free service increases.

The collaboration reflects SBM’s wider commitment to responsible hospitality. Beyond operating some of Monaco’s most famous hotels, restaurants and nightlife venues, the group has increasingly invested in initiatives designed to improve visitor safety and promote responsible enjoyment of the Principality’s nightlife.

As Monaco welcomes another busy summer season, the message remains simple: enjoying an evening out should never come at the cost of road safety. Thanks to the continued cooperation between SBM and Be Safe Monaco, hundreds more residents will have the opportunity to get home safely, free of charge.
