Monaco has returned from London with another piece of gold and this one is becoming something of a habit.
The Grimaldi Forum Monaco has been named Best Overseas Convention Centre at the 2026 M&IT Awards, taking Gold for the second consecutive year. It shared the top honour with Spain’s PortAventura Convention Centre, ahead of major venues in Dublin, Barcelona, Palma and Amsterdam.
The distinction carries particular weight because the winners are chosen by professional event organisers based in the United Kingdom, with results independently verified. It is therefore a direct vote of confidence from the people deciding where major international events should take place.
Monaco’s Night in London
And the Grimaldi Forum was not celebrating alone. Visit Monaco Convention Bureau was also honoured in the Best Overseas Convention Bureau category, while the Fairmont Monte-Carlo received recognition as a Best Overseas Hotel. Three awards in one evening offered a powerful advertisement for Monaco’s ability to attract and host international events.
For Grimaldi Forum Managing Director Sylvie Biancheri, the second consecutive Gold was especially meaningful because it came directly from British event organisers, rewarding both client confidence and the work of the Forum’s teams.
A Trophy Cabinet Getting Crowded
The latest Gold brings the Grimaldi Forum’s M&IT collection since 2003 to an impressive 21 awards: 10 Gold, nine Silver and two Bronze.
It also arrives at an important moment. Following its 25th anniversary in 2025, the Forum has expanded with an additional 6,000 square metres indoors and 2,000 square metres outside, strengthening its ability to compete for major international events.
The latest trophy has already completed its journey from London back to the Principality. After 21 M&IT awards, however, the Grimaldi Forum may soon face a rather different space problem: where to put the next one.
