Prince Albert attends 16th Underwater Photography Contest

Prince Albert presented the winners of the 16th Underwater Photography Contest at the Oceanographic Museum.  Organized by the Monaco diving club, the goal of the competition is to capture the most beautiful shots under the ocean, without any retouches.

Prince Albert presented Stéphane Regnier and Sophie Perez with the prize for the best fish photography. The “Ambiance” prize went to Bassem Jamour and Lætitia Rebaudengo. The prize for the best photography “In the colours of Monaco” went to Benjamin Raffin and Lætitia Gauthier.  The ceremony also awarded the winner of the youth category, 10 year old Lila Rose Toullec.

To close the ceremony, Roger Mullot, president of the CESMM, revealed a goal of organizing the world championships of underwater photography in the Principality in 2021.

Accreditation of the Ambassador of France to Monaco

On Thursday 19 September 2019, H.E. Mr. Laurent Stefanini, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the French Republic to Monaco, who presented his Letters of Credence to H.S.H. Prince Albert II in the morning, was received by the Minister of State, Serge Telle, at his residence, for a lunch presided over by the Sovereign.

H.E. Mr. Laurent Stefanini is a graduate of the Institute of Political Studies.  He joined the central administration in 1985, where he was appointed delegate in the capacity of Deputy Director of the Environment and Sectoral Cooperation and Advisor for Religious Affairs.

During his career, H.E. Mr. Stefanini also served as First Counsellor at the Holy See in Rome from 2001 to 2005, as Ambassador for the Environment, Senior Official for Sustainable Development at the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs from 2006 to 2010, and Head of Protocol and Introducer of Ambassadors from 2010 to 2016. He was promoted to Ambassador, Permanent Representative to UNESCO in 2016. (Source: gouv.mc)

Prince Albert attends Olympic Athletes Association Barbecue

The Monegasque Association of Olympic Athletes celebrated the end of summer break with a friendly barbecue in Fontvieille with about sixty of its members on Friday 20 September.  The event took place in the presence of Prince Albert II and many Monegasque personalities.

Recently elected President of WAMA, Jérémy Bottin, thanked the Sovereign Prince for his presence and support, offering him a polo with the new logo of the Association.

President of the Monegasque Olympic Committee and a member of the International Olympic Committee since 1985, HSH Prince Albert II is an Olympian, having participated in five Olympiads, from 1988 in Calgary to 2002 in Salt Lake City, as a member of the National bobsleighTeam.

The Monegasque Association of Olympic Athletes helps promote the values ​​of Olympism through various projects in the Principality.

Prince Albert participates in World Cleanup Day

On 21 September, Prince Albert participated in International World Cleanup Day, which was held for the first time in Monaco. World Cleanup Day is a global event launched 10 years ago which gathered more than 18 million participants in 158 countries last year. The day is aimed at combating pollution and litter, including marine debris.

Various sporting activities were offered by Decathlon Monaco for the occasion (running, walking, hiking).  The Sovereign Prince, schoolchildren from Charles III, François d’Assise-Nicolas Barré and many other volunteers picked up more than one ton of waste!  At the end of the morning, the Prince and all the participants met at Larvotto, on the esplanade of the Rose des Vents, to share a “Zero Waste” aperitif offered by the Monaco City Council. On the menu: fruit juices made with unsold fruits from the Condamine Market and culinary preparations made by Chef Julien Baldacchino.

This event in the Principality was an opportunity to combine sport and the protection of the planet through several environmental events, on land and at sea, in Monaco, Cap d’Ail and La Turbie.
