The Princess Grace Hospital Centre recently shut the doors of its Covid unit after the number of hospitalizations due to the virus dropped. However, the hospital will be keeping six beds open just in case numbers increase again in the near future.
According to the director of the CHPG, Benoîte de Sevelinges, Monaco’s low Covid numbers are due to a combination of vaccinations, good weather and government measures.
The drop in Covid cases can be seen not only in Monaco but also throughout the Alpes-Maritimes department. According to the latest government report, 46.16% of the Monegasque population has received their first vaccination. Doses of the vaccine are currently available for all residents over the age of 18.
CHPG resumes non-emergency surgeries
The hospital centre is resuming activities which were suspended due to the pandemic. All surgeries are back on the agenda and the orthopaedic unit has reopened. To keep the hospital safe, visits are still prohibited except for in the geriatric, psychiatry and palliative care units (under certain conditions).
