Princess Charlene defends Sport as a Tool for Equality before European Parliamentarians

Princess Charlene was the guest of honour at the Femmes@APCE group’s working breakfast, where she championed sport as a tool for equality and empowerment within the framework of Monaco’s recent presidency of the Council of Europe.

In her opening remarks, the Princess spoke about how Monaco shares the Assembly’s fundamental values of human dignity, solidarity, and the protection of the most vulnerable. The Princess then presented the actions of her Foundation, which teaches children to swim, raises awareness of water safety, and trains people in rescue techniques. More than 30 participants then shared their experiences and asked questions about the presentation.

Prince Albert II to contribute to F1 Charity Auction during Monaco Grand Prix

The Sovereign will be attending and contributing to the “Formula One for Life” charity auction to benefit the Antoine Alléno Association on 5 June at the Hermitage Hotel. Prince Albert II will be contributing a helmet autographed by himself and designed by Adrien Paviot and Valentin Belgy. Pierre Gasly’s racing suit, Charles Leclerc’s signed helmet, the Alpine RS19 single-seater that competed in the 2019 season, and 30 more lots will also be under the hammer.

The son of three-Michelin-starred chef Yannick Alléno, Antoine Alléno, was fatally struck in May 2022 by a repeat offender driving a stolen vehicle. His father founded the association to support bereaved families and fund prevention campaigns. Since Antoine’s death, nearly 3,000 young people aged 15 to 25 have lost their lives on French roads.

The auction idea arose from a meeting between chef Yannick Alléno and driver Pierre Gasly during the Singapore Grand Prix. The driver donated his racing suit and committed to collecting other F1 items.
