Prince Albert II awards Tadej Pogacar in Liège
The Sovereign awarded the winners of the Liège-Bastogne-Liège, one of the oldest cycling races in the world, on 26 April 2026. Prince Albert II presented Tadej Pogacar with the winning trophy. The Prince had also crowned Pogacar as the winner of the UCI Road World Championships in Rwanda in September 2025. The Slovenian cyclist rides for Team Emirates. This is the fourth time Tadej Pogacar has won the 260-kilometre race, which is nicknamed “La Doyenne” as it was launched in 1892. Prince Albert II also presented a medal to France’s Paul Seixas, who came in second, 45 seconds after Pogacar, and Belgium’s Remco Evenepoel, who finished third.
Pierre Casiraghi and Beatrice Borromeo visit Jacky Ickx’s Legendary Ferrari
Pierre Casiraghi, Beatrice Borromeo and their two sons visited the Ferrari team during the 15th Monaco Historic Grand Prix on 25 April 2026. The nephew of Prince Albert II and his family admired Jacky Ickx’s legendary 1968 Ferrari 312 F1. Their sons, Stefano and Francesco, aged 9 and 7, were given a private demonstration of the booming roar of the Ferrari engine before Jacky Ickx participated in the Cavallino Classic Monaco Ferrari Parade. The single-seater carried the Belgian driver to victory during the French Grand Prix in Rouen in 1968.
Prince Albert II visits Greece
The Sovereign made a two-day visit to Greece to inaugurate the Monaco consulate in Athens and promote ocean conservation in Delphi. On 21 April, Prince Albert II had a meeting with Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis to discuss environmental issues and marine protected areas. He then met with the Greek president Konstantinos Tasoulas to discuss combating pollution, particularly microplastics and preserving endangered species. The Prince’s third political meeting of the day took place at Athens City Hall with Mayor Haris Doukas. Following the meeting, Prince Albert II received the Medal of the City. In the late afternoon, the sovereign cut the ribbon and unveiled a commemorative plaque for the inauguration of the Monaco consulate in Athens, alongside the honorary consul, Vassili Apostolopoulos. After speeches in the new consulate’s auditorium and a blessing of the building by Archbishop Ieronymus, Prince Albert II planted an olive tree in front of the entrance to the consulate.
On the second day of his official visit to Greece, Prince Albert II traveled to Delphi for the Delphi Economic Forum, which focuses on maritime issues and the blue economy. In his speech, Prince Albert emphasized how fundamental the sea is to civilizations, particularly to the Greek civilization. Several heads of state were also in attendance, allowing Prince Albert II to hold bilateral meetings with Estonian President Alar Karis, Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama, and the European Commissioner for Fisheries and Oceans, Kostas Kadis.
Prince Albert II drives “Bugatti Royale” in Historic Grand Prix
The Monaco Historic Grand Prix began in style when HSH Prince Albert II drove the first lap of the circuit in a Bugatti Type 41, also known as the “Bugatti Royale,” on Saturday 25 April 2026. The lap also celebrated the Bugatti Royale’s centenary (1926-2026). The Sovereign drove the inaugural lap accompanied by Christophe Piochon, President of Bugatti Automobiles, and Michel Ferry, Vice-President of the Automobile Club of Monaco.



Belonging to Ettore Bugatti himself, the Bugatti Royale was acquired by the Schlumpf brothers in 1963. Prince Albert II saw the vehicle when he visited Mulhouse and the National Automobile Museum in October 2024.
Following its appearance on the Monaco circuit, the Bugatti Royale will be presented to the public at the Automobile Collection of HSH the Prince of Monaco, on Port Hercule, from 27 April to 3 May, offering visitors a rare opportunity to admire the iconic automobile up close. It will then be exhibited at the Top Marques show, on the Collection’s stand from 7 to 10 May 2026 before returning to its home in Mulhouse.


Prince Albert II sends Official Dispatch to Donald Trump
The Sovereign sent the following official dispatch to the President of the United States on 26 April 2026:

I wish to convey my relief at knowing that you, together with the First Lady and all those in attendance, are safe and unharmed following this act of exceptional gravity.
