Princely Couple inaugurates Charles III College

Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene officially visited the new Charles III school on 12 September with several government officials. The building, located on the Pasteur block, was designed by Monegasque architects Christian Curau and François Lallemand and boasts a 300 seat amphitheater, a 25 metre swimming pool, four playgrounds and over sixty classrooms to accommodate up to 1,500 students. Minister of State, Didier Guillaume, spoke about the construction of the school, which began in 2016 and used 1,300 tons of steel and 40,000 assembly bolts and was created under a ‘High Environmental Quality’ certification.

Prince Albert II and Bernard Hinault inaugurate the French cyclist’s fresco in La Turbie

Prince Albert II and the best French cyclist in history inaugurated a fresco on 8 September in La Turbie. The five-time winner of the Tour de France is now larger than life and overlooking the Carlo Felice fountain. The fountain, which was once surrounded by villagers washing their clothes, is now a favourite stop for cyclists wanting to refill their bottles.

Along with Prince Albert II, La Turbie’s mayor Jean-Jacques Raffaele, and patron of the project, Daniel Audemard, Bernard Hinault also unveiled the inauguration plaque for the restoration of the fountain. The champion cyclist has a statue in Brittany and a sculpture in Sallanches, where he was world champion.

Prince Albert II visits the Léo Ferré photo Exhibition

Prince Albert II attended a private viewing of the “Léo Ferré’s Last Photo Exhibition at Espace Léo Ferré – Seen Through the Lens of Hubert Grooteclaes”. The Prince was in the company of special guests, including Axelle Amalberti Verdino, Mathieu Ferré (the son of Léo Ferré) and Pascale Grooteclaes (the daughter of photographer Hubert Grooteclaes). The exhibition retraces the 46-year career of the Monegasque singer through numerous photos captured by the Belgian photographer. Léo Ferré released some forty albums during his lifetime and had many hits, particularly in the 1960s and 70s.

Prince Albert II celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Radio Monte-Carlo Transmitter Centre

The Sovereign made a historic visit to Roumoules to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Radio Monte-Carlo transmitter centre on 11 September. Welcomed by the Prefect of the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, Marc Chappuis and the Mayor of Roumoules, Gilles Megis, the Sovereign unveiled a commemorative plaque. Built in 1974 under the leadership of Lucien Allavena, then technical director of Radio Monte-Carlo, the Roumoules transmitter centre played a decisive role in the expansion of RMC listening in France and Italy. Thanks to its installation, Monegasque radio was able to reach a much wider audience, reinforcing its influence on European radio waves.

The Prince also unveiled an”Grimaldi Historical Sites of Monaco” sign at the entrance of the village. The visit ended with a public ceremony on the Place de la République, where Prince Albert II received honorary citizenship of Roumoules.

Prince Albert II welcomes the first European Peace Race to Monaco

Prince Albert II welcomed participants in the first European Peace Race, which ended on 10 September near the Stade Louis II after a 1,500 kilometre journey on foot through five countries. The 15 amateur runners from the Zukunft Frieden association began their tireless journey in Bitterfeld, Germany before crossing the finish line in Monaco, 11 days later. Supported by the Monegasque Government and the Prince’s Palace, the feat succeeded in promoting peace through sport.

Prince Albert II visits areas devastated by Storm Alex

Four years after Storm Alex, Prince Albert II visited the valleys of the Alpes-Maritimes on 10 September. In October 2020, the Principality and the Prince’s Government were immediately mobilized to aid the disaster-stricken regions in the Roya, Vésubie, Tinée and Moyen Var valleys. Three million euros for 30 reconstruction projects through the Fondation du Patrimoine was launched to protect and restore buildings and infrastructures of historical and cultural importance. Prince Albert II presented these initiatives alongside Prefect Hugues Moutouh and local elected officials.

Prince Albert II, Robbie Williams, Charles Leclerc and Flavio Briatore attend Private Party at the Yacht Club

Prince Albert II attended the Ferretti Group’s annual private event at the Yacht Club de Monaco on 7 September, which featured a performance by legendary British singer, Robbie Williams. Suspended above the harbour, the stage was surrounded by luxury yachts and 600 guests as the pop star belted out his most memorable hits.

Formula 1 drivers Charles Leclerc and George Russell, entrepreneur Flavio Briatore, designer Domenico Dolce, and actor Pierfrancesco Favino were also in attendance. The Ferretti Group unveiled its fleet of 37 boats at the event, including seven world premieres. Antonio Mellino, who was recently awarded his third Michelin star, prepared an exceptional dinner for the guests. An exclusive after party was then held on Flavio Briatore’s yacht, with Charles Leclerc, Robbie Williams and Formula 1 CEO, Stefano Domenicali, in attendance.
