Prince Albert visits President Emmanuel Macron

A meeting between President Emmanuel Macron and HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco, on Friday 29 November, at the Elysée Palace, was an opportunity to reaffirm the depth and the close ties between the French Republic and the Principality.  The meeting concerned the protection of the environment, the fight against climate change and the preservation of the oceans in particular.

The President and the Sovereign reaffirmed their commitment to work together for the implementation of the Paris Agreement, particularly in view of the COP 25. They also decided to move forward jointly to develop, through a working group, the statutes of the Albert I Foundation.

The negotiation of an Association Agreement between Monaco and the European Union was also discussed, taking into account French citizens living in Monaco for several generations who contribute to the history, society and economy of Monaco; and in particular the question of their access to preferential housing in neighbouring communities.  Prince Albert II invited President Emmanuel Macron and his wife to visit the Principality of Monaco in the near future.

The new, official photo of Prince Albert, Princess Charlene and their children, Hereditary Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella will be available from Wednesday 4 December in the Principality’s Souvenir Shops: Palace Square, Grimaldi Forum, the Prince’s Car Collection and the Louis II tunnel.  Profits will be donated to the Principality’s humanitarian work.

Princely Family attend BeSafe Monaco’s Anniversary

Prince Albert II of Monaco, Princess Caroline of Hanover, Princess Stephanie of Monaco, Louis Ducruet, Marie Ducruet and Pauline Ducruet attended the BeSafeMonaco Association’s anniversary event at Café de Paris in Monte-Carlo. BeSafeMonaco was founded two years ago by Camille Gottlieb and her friends Charlotte Marsan, Andrea Puzar, Laura Dias and Margaux Grundstein in order to educate young people and their parents about the dangers of drinking and driving.

Prince Albert II attended and presided over the Princess Grace Awards gala ceremony, which honoured actress Bernadette Peters and director Chinonye Chukwu at the Plaza Hotel in New York.

The chic and glamorous party in Manhattan honours emerging and recognized artists in the world of dance, theatre and film who uphold the values ​​of the Princess Grace Foundation USA.

The evening, hosted by singer and actor Leslie Odom Jr (winner of a foundation award in 2016) honoured actress Bernadette Peters, a Broadway figure and three-time Tony Award winner, and presented her with the Prince Rainier III Award for outstanding artistic talent and exemplary contribution.  Director Chinonye Chukwu received the Princess Grace Award. A distinction that confirms the success of her latest film, Clemency (Grand Jury Prize of the Sundance Film Festival for this year).

During the evening, twenty-five emerging theatre, dance and film artists received awards and scholarships from the foundation.  In total, the US foundation awards more than $1 million annually to theatre, dance and film artists.  A special tribute video for Princess Grace, who would have turned 90 this year, was also screened during the gala.

Princess Stephanie attends Test in the City for Fight Aids Monaco

On Wednesday 27 November, Princess Stephanie, President of Fight Aids Monaco, took part in Test in the City in Fontvielle. Throughout the day, volunteers of the association offered the public free and anonymous HIV testing.  Didier Gamerdinger, Minister of Social Affairs and Health, and Mayor Georges Marsan were also present to support the event, occurring right before 1 December, which is World AIDS Day.

Prince Albert and Bertrand Piccard attempt World Record in Hydrogen Car

Prince Albert II of Monaco was alongside Bertrand Piccard for the last kilometres of his attempt to break the world record for distance achieved in a hydrogen car with a single tank. After having traveled 778 kilometres in two days in urban conditions, at a maximum speed of 90 km/h, the car arrived at the Air and Space Museum in Paris on Tuesday 26 November.

This record is further evidence that we can now rely on clean and efficient technologies to shift our transportation needs to more sustainable models.

Presentation of the knight’s insignia of the Order of St. Gregory

In the Agora chapel at the diocesan house, in the presence of HSH Prince Albert and several high-ranking Monegasque personalities the knight’s insignia in the Order of St. Gregory the Great was presented to René Croési, Roland Mélan and Patrice Pastor. The order of St. Gregory the Great is a granted by the Holy See in a civil or military capacity in recognition of someone’s service to the Church.

Prince Albert and Princess Caroline attend Michael Gregorio concert for UN Convention on the Rights of the Child

To celebrate thirty years of the International Convention on the Rights of the Child, Michael Gregorio gave a concert on Wednesday 20 November at the Grimaldi Forum in the presence of Prince Albert II, Princess Caroline and Bishop Bernard Barsi, Archbishop of Monaco.

The performance was preceded, during the day, by festive activities and educational activities.  A check for 15,000 euros was presented to Amade and humanitarian associations in the Principality. Assistance will also be provided to students of the Principality and its neighbouring municipalities who are experiencing financial difficulties.

Prince Albert gave a lecture on 26 November in Paris on “Preserving Biodiversity and Combating Climate Change, a key to a sustainable future” at the ESCP Europe Business School.

The Sovereign Prince was able to discover the campus and history of the school, which was also celebrating its bicentennial, before speaking at the “Stand up for a sustainable world” conference.  Following his speech, HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco was honoured with the ESCP Europe Business School Doctor Honoris Causa for his commitment to sustainable development and the work of his Foundation.
